Just a quick update with a few bits.
Hatches complete.
Got my sizing a bit off on these but think they look OK.
Here is a viewing hatch for the driver. This is not stuck on yet.
Here is the first gun finished. Still not sure if this is going to be dual or quad. Also need to add ammo boxes. Am thinking round drums rather than squares boxes.

Why are small rivets so hard to find? All I ever see are those big disc-looking rivets. It really detracts from all these ork conversions I see online.

In a universe where standard guns have 100mm barrels and tanks fire shells 18 inches across you have to have big rivets.
Looking great bud, nice work on the hatches, detail looks spot on.

Hatches are looking good, as is the gun!
As for the rivets: A lot depends on the availability of plastic rod, I's venture.

Hi again guys!
Glad (most of you) are liking what I am building here!
With regards to the rivets, keep in mind you are seeing close in photos to show the detail so they do look bigger, I agree that in scale they are too big but they are pretty fiddely to work with even at this size! I have used some smaller ones under the view port but they are too small to use everywhere.
Anyway, on to the progress.
Track build up.
Circles cut from plumbing pipe (32mm and 40mm) found out this stuff does not like liquid poly glue, will not use these again after this build. Hope they will take paint!
Track pins.
Tracks going on.
This is as much track as I am putting on each side as I am going to cover these over with track guard. Just some more rivets and detailing to add and this side is done!
Then I can do it all again for the other side! Quite time consuming to build these but I am really pleased with how they look! Big thanks to Ian Wyatt again for his you tube tutorial.
Other progress at the front!
Ok thats all for now, hope you like it!

Hey bud, on the PVC pipe, in the plumbing section, you will find PVC pipe glue. It is very thick, but works with most plastics. Sets quickly, and smells really healthy. The PVC will take paint fine. Though for future use you may want to gently sand the surface.
All looking excellent.

Thanks for tip on the pipe glue!
Slow progress this week due to work and life getting in the way!
The second track is complete.
Track cover going on.
Will be armouring this up like the front.
Front profile.
Still not sure exactly what else to add for weapons, like the idea of arming it as a battlewagon for use in game but I think I have made it far too big to be a normal battlewagon!

Orks know that bigger is better, obviously!
(also, you can use the plastic beads from charcoal water filters if so inclined, but wow they're fiddly to work with)

Looking good! This may have been taken into consideration already, but have you considered inverting the tracks so the high end is in front?
As for armament: a battlewagon can be pretty big, so no reason not to do it

Hi guys.
Only a little progress but thought I would share.
Added the second track guard.
Have started armouring up the side.
With regard to the tracks, I wanted it slooping back as I had a dragster style small front large back wheel idea in my head. With hindsight it has not worked exactly as planned and the high end at the front might have gave it a meatier look.
All glued now though!
I am planning to add some firing platforms/sponsons to the front next!

Then this is how it'll be . I see what you mean with the dragster look; you could still pull it off IMO!

Fantastic work on the track links! The job is almost _too_ precise for ork work! Thank you for posting more than just one or two shots of the build up: this is one of those projects that when one sees it in an advanced state you say to yourself "I could never do that", but to see the step by step makes it more comprehensible. High level skill to do that kind of work- patience, square cuts, careful measuring- but broken down into its component steps, possible to emulate.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Cheers for the comments guys, glad you are liking it so far!
I was worried showing so many photos may have bored people but like you I have seen a few builds that seem to jump so far forward that I have struggled to follow what was done.
I am working for a few days now but will try to get an update done Tuesday or Wednesday next week, should have the turret painted and the side firing platforms sorted.

Looks excellent great job I love making these scratch ork vehicles. I haven't done any in ages you've inspired me to make more and maybe try taking some photos now I have a better camera. As for rivets ork rivet can be suitably chunky. Hell if you've ever seen a WWII Cromwell tank it has like fist sized rivets on the turret. I do like to use smaller rivets a lot of the time though - I use micro beads used for ladies nail art you can get like 10000 for £3 at Boots or Superdrug or online. They are tiny maybe 1/2mm in size. Drill a shallow dip then tiny amount of glue on a pin in the hole and they work a treat. Pro tip use a damp pin head or scalpel point to pick up individual beads and position them easily.

Just a quick update to keep you all in the loop.
Added side platforms/sponsons?
I intend to use this as a battlewagon so am aiming to use the main turret as a cannon and want 4 big shootas as additional weapons,
I have painted the turret!
Think it looks ok, though seems a bit weird sitting on the half finished boat!
And here is the turret on and one of the gunners in position (obviously not glued!)
I am prepping for the Warhammer Fest 40K tourny and my army is not fully painted yet - not long to go so further progress will have to wait for 2 weeks or so!

Well my 2 week break turned into 18 months!
Been building and painting alot of Chaos marines and Renegade Knights and my Orks have been left on the shelf.
The new codex has inspired me to sort out this sorry situation!
After clearing the dust off this project (literally!) I intend to see it finished!
Sorry for the slight jump here, lost a few photos.
Added a flont shield.
Still need to armour this up.
Inside controls.
Added the landing pad. Not sure if I showed the shutter door before?
Started a bit of detail work for the exhaust., not finished yet.
Will continue the work next week!

Looking good!
Little tip:
- I took a bunch of ork bolts/screws (just from any ork kit/bits) and glued them on a flat surface,
- Then I got a small tube or straw and put a bit of green stuff in one hole,
-At the other end I put in a pin,
- Then I made the 'green stuff'-end a bit wet,
- I pressed this as a stamp on a single screw/bolt. you just hold the straw and press the pin down,
- I made different stamps for different screws/bolts and then I just had to make little greenstuff balls and put them on a flat surface and press the (wet) stamps on them, and let it dry. I could just scrape them of the flat surface and use a needle or scalpel point to lift them up and glue them.
It's a little more work but this way you got more diverse bolts/screws and that really looks better. Just my two cents!

Got finished early from work so got a little more done.
Want to keep moving on this even if it is small steps so I do not stall again!
Have decided to leave off the quad gun idea and stick with 4 big shootas plus the main deck gun.
This will make it a legal load out plus I have not really got the space for a big AA gun.
Put a raised deck on the back - idea is to be like the old pirate ships raised aft stearing deck.
Added some side armour and railings - mostly to check it works!
And this one is just to kinda get an idea of how it should look!
Still loads to of detailing to do but am having fun and glad to be back at it.
Interesting idea shogun, do your green stuff casts not stick in the little molds when you make them?

They look cool, was unsure how well they would work.
Added a mast.
Quite happy with the little hatches, super easy to make as well!
Added a load more detail, happy with how this is going!
Not sure what I am going to put at the top of the mast, originally was planning a radar but after a few botched starts I am not sure how to build it!
I may use some form of light instead, any ideas feel free to shout out!

Yup, really easy to use, though the really small ones are horribly fiddly, as in: use magnifying glasses and tweezers. But the sizes I actually use the most are very user-friendly.
Detaling is looking good, this is turning into a stellar conversion!
