Like I remember the old Megadrive/SNES pre secondary school, Amiga days starting secondary school, then the N64 around late secondary/early college, WoW and online gaming when I started my first job etc.

And all of the memorable games that went with them.

39/40, Ratius? I think I am a year or two ahead, with similar experience.

I was 29 when the video came out, just starting my 'golden age' of gaming when my group started weekly RPGs and I was still into CCGs (Star Wars). Playtesting, even.

My first "love" game wise was Romance of the Three Kingdoms for the NES.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

"Time's up! Let's do this! LEEEEEEROOOOOYYYYY JEEEENNNKIIIINS!" Probably one of my favorite gaming clips for obvious reasons.

As for games in my childhood, I remember being 11 and getting a Nintendo 64 for Christmas. Only got 2 games with it, those being Starfox 64 and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Of course, I picked up quite a few games as time went on (and my dad was willing to pay for them). The games I probably played the most were Diddy Kong Racing, Star Wars Episode 1: Racer, and Super Smash Bros. My little brother really liked Banjo-Kazooie.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 12 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

One of the defining games of my childhood was playing Star Fox on the SNES. I got great memories of Goldeneye, and spend most of my often drunk college time with the PS2. But Star Gox was a game changer for me.

I know I am dating myself a bit with this, but for me the defining game of my young adulthood will always be Everquest.

Yeah, Everquest. I actually have a still new in wrapper edition of Everquest Frontiers for the PS2. I remember staying up all night setting my character to follow someone, only to wake up hours later stuck in a bush with no idea where I was.

I miss my Shaman Barbarian named GonadRipper.

Mythology is on Steam along with AoE2, no AoE1 though :(

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

I'm pretty sure I still got the discs at home. Honestly I haven't gamed on a PC in years and years. I got a PS4 and will play a game here and there but since I started TT war gaming about 5 years ago or so my video gaming time has gone way down.

I kid you not, though, I had a dream about Age of Mythology last night!

I’m with you on that. Erudite Paladin was my main. Deepwater Knights for life.

And as someone who was an officer of a small, mostly casual guild who wanted to try to do some raids, I feel the pain of Leroy, despite never playing WoW. Early MMORPG raids were not very forgiving. Running casuals who didn’t quite grasp that through them was like herding cats. Some of my favorite moments were running raids in the Tower of Frozen Shadow (a multi-floor dungeon requiring keys to access other parts) and Kedge Keep, (an entirely underwater dungeon with the worst pathing and screwed up agro due to it’s 3d nature).

Spoiler:
You should look up project 1999.

It's a recreation of everquest from vanilla to velious period. Has about 1000 people playing it at any one time.

Download a copy of the titanium discs (or use your own if you still have them!) and follow their install guide. It's good fun.

Am currently raiding the Halls of Testing in the Temple of Veeshan as we speak.

Kids these days, no respect for their elders...

I remember when if you wanted to play a game, you typed the code in yourself. If you were lucky, you could record it onto a cassette tape, if not it went away when you turned it off.
