Much as I enjoyed Batman, I really don't feel Joker needs an origin story. Why can't he just be a natural born psychotic madman? Some people are just naturally bonkers.

Now that's a Batman story that needs turning into a film. Ideally the second or third film in Affleck/Reeves's trilogy being but I'd take an animated feature without hesitation. Would work nicely as a second film in the trilogy, with the first being a standard 'Batman Beats Up The Baddies' and the third being a big explodey fight-fest on a grand scale. Hush is the opportunity to do something intensely personal with Bruce as much as Batman, and is probably the easiest route to evoking the same heightened tension and gripping nature of The Dark Knight which the new films will always be compared to.

But he had an original story already, and it was well done.

i want a movie that shows multiple origin stories, filtered through his crazy, so its still a guessing game, honestly

Fair point, although never under-estimate WB's ability to do things wrong

The Killing Joke gave us a Joker origin, and it's an all-time classic of the genre.

What really matters is the story, and we have no idea what that is. A origin story could be handled in any number of ways, as greenskin lynn said. If they're trying to involve Scorsese, DiCaprio, etc. then it would have to be something PDG.

That's ultimately the issue with the entire premise. There COULD be a great origin story where you see the Joker as a kid who has just done something horrible and the entire movie is adults flashing back to him being bullied to rationalize his actions. The movie then could then reveal that none of that is really the origin of his action and he's just manipulating everyone or something like that.

Ultimately though, no one believes in WBs ability to do it right. When we read this we assume that its exactly what it says on paper. Kid Joker gets bullied and turns into a monster to retaliate; which is as disappointing and worthless as the rest of the DCEU.

Burton had no problem creating a great Joker back story

hell, remember that batman cartoon movie that did like 6 different stories from different perspectives, we could have something like that
6 different generic people, or other villains, or whoever, each describing how they think he came about while weaving together with some overarching joking doing a bad thing in gotham story

Would be interesting if the movie featured a bunch of minor character who go through trials and tribulations in the background of the film, giving the hint that maybe the lead character doesn't really become the joker (or possibly some of the background characters are supplementary Jokers?).
