Just take a spare ogryn head (bonus points if its the one just screaming at the top of his lungs) and model it sticking out of a LR cupola.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

It's possible to make an army entirely of Auxiliary Support detachments - no HQ required!

Has the community reach a consensus about the FAQ that says that you can't start a battle with less than 0 CP? One can take two meanings from it: That if you start with -10 CP you start with 0, or that if your army list has less than 0 CP is not a legal army.

Oh I didn't realise there was a question mark over it until you mentioned.

Back to the drawing board...

To be fair, trying to claim that latter interpretation is just being silly. But that doesn't stop people... :/

I'd do a counts-as Yarrick conversion. Toughness is one point too low, but his other survivability options help make up for that, and his power claw makes him a touch stronger than a regular Ogryn. It's a close enough fit for me! The re-roll bubble is also nice to have as a force multiplier.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

I think I'm gonna do the ogryn heavy weapons team. It fits since it could be one ogryn holding each weapon, and the degrading profile can represent them slowly being killed and other ogryns have to start dual wielding to compensate.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Do nork and a couple commisars or a named character like yarrick or creed.

That would be fluffy and cool

I'd use Nork and "counts as" whatever the Custodes guy that gives the 5++ invuln save to Imperials.

If you wanted it fluffy, a Commisar would work. If you want a custom-fluff, it could be a Ogryn training camp gone wrong, Ogryn settlement rebellion or self-defense force, or anything else to give an excuse to Ogryn-up everything.

You could get really creative with your counts-as if the opponents allows it. Instead of an infantry squad, you have each ogryn with a lazgun in each hand - counting each ogryn as 2 models.

(He's an Elites choice.)

I say you use Nork and just give him a commisar hat and say he got a promotion!

The Tank Commander idea is hilarious. Put 4 Ogryns on a base, three holding heavy bolters and one holding a huge gatling gun (punisher cannon).

Make them all the head that has the cybernetic eye to do BS 3+ and you're golden.

Naw just allow Ogryns to be tank commanders as a HQ choice. Have their morbidly large body sticking out of a tank as the commander. Tank gets -1 BS, +2 WS, and +2 Attacks. GET ME CLOSER SO I CAN PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE!

And it still has less ability to penetrate armour than a regular ogryn thwapping someone with a Ripper Gun.

*rolleyes*

Could easily add the caveat like UM have where when the tank dies, on a 2+ the Ogryn Commander model is placed within 3" of the destroyed tank. And just give him a Ripper Gun as a weapon option on the tank since he'd have one

"Hmm, do I choose between MAN-CRUSHING ADAMANTIUM TRACKS OF DEATH or just hitting him with a rifle butt?"

"Well, obviously the rifle butt, it's the same but has -1 AP"

That makes perfect sense for the "Drive me closer, I want to hit him with my sword" mentality of the IG.

How conversion-heavy can this be? The newly released Custodes have basically the same statline where it counts (s, t, w, a), they're just more skilled and have better equipment. If you want to keep it Ogryn-y this could work, you could do bionics and heavy armor conversions to represent the better custodes. It'd cost you your regiment trait but it is perfectly legal to mix ogryn and custodes in a detachment, and the new codex has custodes units for each slot but heavy support (actual custodes statline units, not tanks/dreads).

This would even allow you to craft ogryn bikes/jetbikes Oo
