The Sylvaneth + Deepkin actually works fluffwise as they usually get along very well as nature respecting forces.

Basically stuff I think looks cool and shoots.

That sounds really cool.

I was really on the fence with Kharadron because I loved their airships and fluff (was going to go with a French balloonist look) but decided Deepkin last second. I saw all the armored knights at play and then imagined my Brets with them, i'm buying the Deepkin wizard with fish all around him just so i can make fish-crested Bret helms.

My knights of Verre shall ride on the lands for God-king Sigmar and upon the sea!

If I don't do that, then I'll probably go for a Death army with bits of Deathrattle and Nighthaunt thrown in. I'd say it's Legions of Nagash, but I'm not entirely sure how the Deathrattle and Nighthaunt portions would interact under that.

in terms of fluff, not a problem. death is death.
as for gaming, you need to run one of the legions from the legions of nagash tome as NH cannot ally with DR in matched. if the new NH toys can be used with legions of nagash, idk.

All the starter box Nighthaunt units can be used in any of the Legions of Nagash legion armies natively. Any of the other Nighthaunt units will have to be allies. This is the best way to combine Deathrattle + Nighthaunt since Deathrattle itself is not really a army, it has no command abilities or anything like that, and if you run a Nighthaunt army you can't ally in skeletons.

Gotta say, as someone who's had AoS on Ignore for the past 3 years, coming in and trying to figure out how to actually build an army is super frustrating with all these nested factions with rules scattered haphazardly across different books.

Posters on ignore list: 36

its not as bad as you think.

all the units whit the exepction of the brand new one are collected in the generals handbook to give them points for matched and whit it allso their keyword and ally restrictions.

so you basicly just need to find the keyword for whatever army you want to collect and look if there is a battletome for it.
if it is not then the rules for the army you want are in one of the 4 grand alliance books.

so in aos you need 2 books: generals handbook and battletome/grand alliance book + FAQs.
in comparisments to 40k you need the index, codex , CA + FAQs.

For the new edition I'm going to paint the zombie army that I've always wanted. So far I have a couple of boxes of zombies that I'm mixing with empire/free people parts and I'm painting them in a Nordland colour scheme.

Go to https://www.warhammer-community.com/warscroll-builder/ . Every Allegiance you can choose is its own army. Within an Allegiance there might be units from multiple Factions, but the Allegiance is the master list so to speak. It's that simple really!

edit: Scratch that. The warscroll builder doesn't actually limit unit choices according to the Allegiance you chose

So what you actually need is the General's Handbook 2018. It lists every Allegiance and which units that Allegiance is allowed to take.

I'm going to be starting up Stormcast Eternals with the release of the new edition. I'm also eyeing the Daughters of Khaine, but I can't focus on two armies at once. It'll take up too much of my time.

Have been fascinated by the gleeful vileness of Skaven since picking up this issue of WD @ age 12, as their line got a then-modern launch.

That was a great time and issue. Was that the Abbadon vs Eldrad report?

I'm planning out a Nurgle army myself. I know I need a tree, but undecided between starting my 1k force with blightkings or daemons right now. Probably 2 start collecting daemons because I'll need something to summon anyway, but blightkings appeal to me so much.

Nighthaunt for me.

Already got Spirit Hosts and Hexwraiths. Reckon two sets from the starter, and the new Banshees and I’m largely set.

Oh, and my Mourngul. Forgot about him!

Definitely planning on stating an Idoneth force slowly over time. And then once a get starting comes out I'll snag one of those (hopefully by December). I already have my army planned out using the warscroll builder, sits right at 2k.

Age of sigmar rule book looks stunning but I've just started 40k again for the first time in years and have my Eldar and Scythes of the emperor to paint so I'm going to wait out and see if any interesting human factions come out.

This Ally Matrix is quite handy too.

I have to admit, having held my nose up at AoS for the whole of 0.5 and 1st edition... I'm slightly intrigued by the Nighthaunts.

Especially since they look like a really easy army to paint if you just go for the white primer and ghostly wash/drybrush effect.

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

Celebrating the new edition with a trip down Destruction Lane. I'm building the entirety of the Alfrosten Warscroll Battalion. It's actually comprised of several Warscroll Battalions, so there'll be a lot of flexibility for putting lists together for games. I'm going to do a rocky/snow base scheme. I've never played Ogres before and I love the models, so this should be fun!

Picked up the Daughters of Khaine and Idoneth Deepkin Battletomes and a box of Khinrai. Going to build up both to be either a 3000 pt order army or two 1500 point Aelf armies.

It would depend upon how you set it up, but feasibly yes.

Thinking about using the Stormcast from the old starter set (have 2 and a half laying around) and make an Asgardian themed Stormcast army with 2.0.

Just need to think of an easy and fast paint scheme that works with heads (instead of helmets).

Hey guys, I'm slowly building an undead army, because I dont have many friends to play with. I already have characters, from 90s, and I'll be adding some skeletons also.

Got my fist game in today with the new stormcast (my opponent let me use the previewed celestial vindicators rules too)

Oh boy they are good. The lord ordinator with 2 celestar ballistas is brutal. The command ability for celestial vindicators: also brutal. Stormstrike greatmaces are so damn good. 4 in a unit of 10 with +1 attack for 13 2 dmg attacks? Yes please.

The combo of a suiciding knight incantor with a lord arcanum to let her get back up is sooo tasty. Then next turn he can cast healing storm on her and she's back to full. Nice.

Very happy with the new stormcast!

Do they feel like they just replace the old Stormcast, or is there a place for the warrior chamber still? I'm slightly concerned that these new ones are just better.

I wanted to stick with my High elves but I just really hate that they got split up into 6 armies. I wasnt too fond of Idoneth when they first released but their looking ok and I heard they play like Dark eldar which is an army im familiar with so I might give them a whirl.

I have managed to stick to my "only two armies for AoS" so far.

I reserve the right to add the new Tyrion/Teclis Aelves and A Soulblight force if they get amazing releases.

Strongly considering jumping into the escalation league that's starting in a few weeks. Tempted by a number of things, but struggling with the difference between wanting some of the models and wanting an army. Currently leaning towards Sylvaneth, but I'm a little worried they don't ally well enough to feed my desire to ally in random models that catch my eye.
