On moon miranda.

I don't really like most of the new Nurgle CSM stuff. The antler/horn thing looks way out of place, there are way too many large flat surfaces punctuated only by the crispest and cleanest buboes ive ever seen, and the paintjobs GW does on them are all way too clean and bright. Plague Marines should look like something rotten and pitted with rust pulled from a sewer, not a bright green suit of armor with crisp horns and gleaming white teeth growing out of it and spotlessly maintained weapons.

That said, if stuff I didnt like and slowly grew to like, the CSM Dinobots are one, I rather like the Forgefiend model now.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Wasn't a fan of the new Typhus model at first but after some mild reposing it's one of my favourites in the army

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

The Primaris line. I'm used to the aesthetic and odd proportions of the old Marine kits; the Primaris just didn't look "Space Marine" enough, if that makes any sort of sense. Having put 30 or so of them together the look has grown on me to the point that I almost wish I'd bought straight Primaris, plus or minus some Centurion Devastators.

And provided you avoid the god-awful GW paint scheme they come up a treat!

Yeah they look to cartoony to me, the FW upgrades are how DG should look.

No its not, it had nothing to do with painting or modeling, it has to do with GW products. Everyone is having a good time talking, so you ignore it and go to another thread and be the hall monitor there lol

Wow, honestly I think if this thread was the other way around, "good to bad", would be Genestealers.

I agree with you, the oldschool model (as per that image) is great, reminds me of the old space hulk game and they just look evil.

I dont like the new ones much.

The first ever GW game I played was Space Crusade, and I found those Genestealers genuinely frightening. That feeling's never really left, there's still something about those models that makes me a bit nervous. In a good way.

When getting into 40k a few years back I looked at the AdMech and though "ew, no way"

Then I got given a Tech-Priest Dominus in the Reddit /r/warhammer secret santa

The new ones look great, but only with the carapace imo. Problem is you generally don't want the carapace as it slows them down.

I decided screw it, I'm modelling them with the carapace and just making sure my opponent is aware they don't have it. I'll never mix, so shouldn't be a problem!

The Leman Russ tank - I thought it looked cartooney and the turret was stupidly small.

But it grew on me and now I have 10 of them! (Albeit mostly with FW turrets...)

Use to despise the Riptide from a fluff and gameplay perspective but I've slowly grown to appreciate it and like it as the center piece of my Tau army. Still don't like things like Riptide wings as the whole army with minimum infantry support.

I'm probably gonna get flak for this, but mine was centurions - I saw some with the heads swapped out with MK.iii heads and fell in love. Maddeningly, that was just slightly before they got nerfed in 8th ed, so my lovely big boys are now just pretty paperweights.

The GSC Goliath is on my list. It went from a goofy little truck to a kit I rather like.

On the flipside the more Rhinos I've build the less I like that model.

I don't know why it is, but opinions are really sharply divided on those things. I love the squad I have and they do good work in my Primaris lists, but I can't argue that they aren't absurdly overpriced. They feel like grown up Aggressors.

Almost the entire primaris range. Initially, my opinions were probably similar to most people; why are they releasing new marine infantry, and why are they so big? But over time they've grown on me, in particular, the generally larger flat surfaces that allow more freehand options. In fact, I fully intend to start an all primaris blood angels force with golden lightning similar to that of the night lords. The repulsor still looks completely ridiculous with way too many guns, and I'm still not completely sold on the redemptor, but my opinions of the infantry have definitely improved.

I would like to bring up something that has gone the complete opposite direction in my mind; the harlequin death jester. First seeing him he looked pretty cool, and his position crouched on a rock contrasts nicely with the movement of the rest of the army. But I found assembling him to be a nightmare, a sentiment shared by a few others at my local store. It almost requires three hands to put some parts together.

I'll take aggressors over centurians look wise any day of the week. I can't get past that their little legs are kicking out the torso.

Weirdly, I have a hard time liking the aggressors - really like the bare heads and the bulky shoulders and legs, but I can't get over their teeny-weeny supermodel waists (or those psyker-looking hoods! I am a Templar and suffer not the watch to live!)

The little marine legs are a little silly, but with the mk.iii helms the front view has a real absolute feeling - lots of hard lines and sharp edges. I think I understand what the designer was thinking about, and with a wee tweak I think it comes across better.

I don't see the 'little legs' issue with the centurions... their legs go down to the shins of the 'suit', which is as you'd expect.

I personally think they would make one of the better models... if converted into Obliterators

I used to hate just about every Nurgle model I ever saw. Then Dark Imperium came out and I absolutely loved the Death Guard models in there, so I had to get a box and keep both armies. I've painted a bunch of them now, and to me they are absolutely an amazing experience to paint. I'm particularly proud of my Mortarion:

Fully armored Magnus the Red, complete with nipple horns. I'm not sure exactly how I pictured the daemon primarch of the Thousand Sons, but it definitely wasn't that.

Then I read all of the Thousand Sons HH books and my opinion has completely changed. The nipple horns could not be more perfect.

The current Warlord titan and Mars-pattern Warhound. When Forge World originally made the Mars-pattern Warhound, I much preferred the blockier Lucius-pattern machine, but now I prefer the Mars. As for the Warlord, when it was first shown off, I though the carapace armour was top-heavy and the legs a little skinny. Having built and painted two for Adeptus Titanicus now, I love 'em.

Mind you, this is a little off-topic; I didn't "hate" them on first release, I just didn't like them. I can't think, off the top of my head, of any current GW models I actively hate.

I'll slot in the middle and say the Reaver Titan. I remember when Forge World launched the current Mars pattern Reaver, and I hated the head. Still did up until fairly recently, but I guess at some point while staring at the FW website and imagining buying some titans, something about it clicked and now I'm quite fond of it.

I hated the Primaris Reivers when I first saw them and I still do now. Their beefy brothers have grown on me however.

When I first started 40k I despised Eldar because they weren't Tyranids but here I am almost 10 years down the line and I have just breached 5000 points of Eldar. I'm infatuated with most of the line now.

The storm talon. Most flyers in the setting couldn't fly unless gravity and wind resistance aren't a thing in 40k but that one really took the cake and I felt that it was redundent given that marines had land speeders already. Once I bought and built one in real life it grew on me, my tiny potato of a flier.
