It's totally fine to dislike the older models.

But saying "You should throw those out and buy new ones" is just rude.

I play with at least one squad of my RTB01 beakies almost every time. I've never had anyone say they look terrible or whatever. They are there to represent what my painting skills used to be, in comparison to my new marines(didnt play 2nd-7th). Although, comparing missile launcher dudes to both current ones(dev & mkiv) the RTB01 does look a little off. I do wish my Chaplin w power sword had rules(not fully expecting to use 30yo loadouts).

Looking at some of the other old models I have, my ork blood bloodbowl team looks terrible compared to the new ones. So much so, that I kinda want to start a new one(and I didnt even like the original game that much).

Some of the original eldar are an example of models ageing very well. The color pictures in WD from back in the day really helped cement the "look" and differentiated them further from fantasy elves.

Pffft! Stegadons in socks are the more effective weapon of choice.

This is truth. The old metal Stegedon will forever hold the title of “model I’d least like thrown at me”. With the switch to resin/plastic, there will probably never be a model as big, heavy, and spiky as ol’ Stegs ever again. With bonus skink shrapnel on top.

No no no, you are doing it wrong. It is the Dreadsock, BLAM!

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I'm pretty sure Ragnar Blackmane is the oldest model in the 40k range, and it has been in almost-continual production since its release (the exception being during the switch from metal to Finecast). Off the top of my head, he was released in 1992...

All but 10-11 or so of my Terminators are from first edition.

I've got some 1st ed Beakies I'm running as Scouts since they're about the right size (and more often then not I find them with the same kind of loadout that Scouts have). I'm making a Kill Team right now with a Missile Launcher Beakie as a Heavy Specialist Scout.

Old models deserve to have their days spent on the tabletop, and spread the history of their games!

My, you must have big feet :-)

On topic, I have run RT Orks in competition, no problem. The ‘official’ Deff Kopta’ model is still the metal Gorka Morka miniature. Ignore the ignoramus.

3rd.

They came out in 1999 with the CSM codex then got the newer backpacks added in a reboxing when the plastic CSM came out circa 2002.

I prefer the newer models for most armies just because they're generally more dynamic (especially my harlequins or assassins), but I would never judge anyone else for their own model preferences and I don't understand why anyone would. Especially with the eldar models; it's not like most of them are that amazing, especially since many of them are still fine cast

I imagine you could stab some one with a Retribution Class Battleship too.
