I gotta be honest I'm in 2 minds on this model. The top half is sublime but the legs and bottom of the model seem really wonky. A bit of a shame really, for some reason I expected more for Sangy.

I like the direction of it, but I want to see a 360 view or in person. The released pic makes it look flatter than it probably is, and I'm guessing that the sculpt fills the volume its in pretty nicely. There are a few models like that, where the "production pic" really doesn't do the model justice. the Sleaneeshi Fiends come to mind. I didn't like the model until I saw them in person, and then I thought they were great.

Not a fan from what I have seen so far.

Not necessarily a bad sculpt but I don't believe the photography is doing it any justice.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I think this needs to be seen in person before making a decision on it. It's very well made, the model's tension is very different to most others in 30/40k so he'll stand out lots. Graceful, amazing wings, but this pose looks like it might be a bit awkward from some angles. Don't really understand the hate its receiving.

My theory is that his wings were strapped on, but he didn't do them up properly and now they've all come loose.

Hence why his pose is so awkward and ungainly.

Admittedly, this still doesn't explain why his hair is on fire.

Pretty sure the wings and hair look a bit odd because we're only seeing the one angle.

Spin in 45 degrees, and I reckon we'll both extend out the back of the model.

It looks like its based closely on the Guido Reni artwork depicting St Michael stomping the crap outta satan. It looks really close to that artwork so much so that I think it is deliberate. After all the book of revelation tells of the war in heaven in which the Angel Michael leads gods army against the forces of Satan (a fallen angel) himself.

Parallels to the Horus heresy?

I think they've missed an opportunity here to have made a truly awesome model. I would bet that someone high up said make the model look like St Michael to continue the theme.

your probably right about this. The thing is the FW St Micheal looks like that fixed version of Jesus fresco. Technicly the same thing, but in reality not so much.

Dear Lord it's horrible.

Looks awkward. Wings look like an add on at a different angle. Stilted. Those at a pinch I could forgive.

However... that rock... that hair... just.... no.

It actually looks worse. It might be the blank white of the material, but the back look awful.

For me, the head is the worst part of this mini. It seems too small, too narrow and thin, not in scale with the rest of the model.

I think I get what they were trying do with the model, the Avenging Angel coming down from the sky.

I don't think they quite landed it right, though I'd like to see him at another angle. Additionally why does his chest have what looks like Eyes of Horus? I'm not that versed in BA lore but I don't recall them sharing that symbol with the Luna Wolves.

Pretty certain that's the same Eye of Terra found on other Primarch's armor, including Horus. It even has the same black pupil as those.

It was a potent symbol of the Imperium before Chaos one-upped it by turning the center of the galaxy into an even bigger one.

I think the idea was good, if the st Michael thing is right (and I presume it is as it is so close). But his legs look weird, worse in the 360 view. And the head is too small. A bit of less is more could’ve been applied here. His face could be less chilled and more rounded giving a hint of cherub about him. Shame.

Was listening to one of the recent Forge the Narrative podcasts where they gush about the model. They confirmed that the sculptor wrote a blog post about how he used that reni artwork as the inspiration for the model.

The special limited edition version with the spear makes the pose look much better.

The initial photos of the model were not very flattering and actually made the model look... less then desirable. The pictures that came out of the Forge World Weekender shined a much better light onto the model. I'm really liking the model now.

He's very likely dive bombing the likes of Ka'Bandha. Range isn't any kind of issue, he's leaping to make a devastating strike rather than standing in a duelling pose.

While I'm not so sure on the boots, in most images I can find, like as Regent of Imperium Secundus, he has flat boots that more resemble sabatons, I think the hair and pose is amazing. I don't think anyone should feel limited by the media of their art. We'd never have Stormravens, Baneblades, Oliphants or the likes of Roboute, Celestine or most of the dynamic AoS models were that the case. I can absolutely see him flaring those wings out just as he touches down, having lept off the parapets of the Imperial palace onto the traitors below, his line of travel aligned with the blade angle as he falls like a meteor to smite his enemies. I am sure he would get a hammer of wrath like wound on charge rule, looking at him.
I kind of agree on the face, though the highlight could be a little strong under the cheeks: He always did look like his father with a very chiselled, aquiline face.

Following my initial comment, now I have seen the spear and scenic base version it looks infinitely better. Not sure about that hair though.

The legs make more sense when wrestling with a beastie but still not sold. That said, I’ve been underwhelmed by most the primarchs. Don’t like the scale/size and they are often too busy for my tastes. Other character stuff has been better. Abadon vs liken is great.
