IG could sue an update I agree. at the same time they're oddly also less nesscary for a update then marines because of the way fluff works, basicly ANY 28mm scale "toy soldiers" will work for guard. the IG fluff almost enchourages you to use 3rd party minis.

SM won't stop seeing releases until every character they intend to keep has been primarisized and they have enough primaris units to squat old marines.

They are literally in the process of releasing a new army. 4 if you consider DA BA and SW to be different. 5 if you include DW. 6 if you think GK will still be a thing when all is said and done.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

In short? No. This is the first time in...ever that GW has decided to re-design/change the entire Space Marine range. You'll be getting kits every six months for the next ten years, and that's not an exaggeration. Maybe not so many kits every 3-4 months, but the Marine train will not cease.

This is great news if you're a marine player, and...just the usual news if you play anything else. It's also a huge reason why I vastly disapprove of the game having what, 25 factions? It all but guarantees armies will go 3-4 years without a significant release of any sort.

except marines haven't gotten any new kits (other then the executioner which I consider simply an early release from this wave) since the first 8th edition codex came out, nearly 2 years ago. it's fine to complain about marine releases but it's hardly "every 6 months"

There's like 12 primaris lieutenants, those blind bag models, phobos armour models, Vigilus stuff and probably other stuff I'm forgetting.

I kind of hope not. I want Space Marine players to continue to get content. My criticism of the Games Workshop release schedule is that it doesn't really give everyone something to look forward to, or new toys/rule to play with. I want everyone to have something new and cool to play with, and to play their armies on the tabletop with reasonable success. Currently, the game isn't in that state, and I don't have much faith that it will either.

We used to see a lot of players just leave the game over this, waiting for what could be years is not really good for enthusiasm. When a player can be told, you may not see a new thing for years, it means they often just slowly fall away.

Seeing as how they're now doing primaris scouts, it's pretty clear what they are doing. I'd rather they get it over with and do full blown terminators soon enough. And then maybe we can get a space hulk game with primaris terminators. Now I don't care at all about collecting a marine army but another edition of space hulk I would buy on day one.

Though it does disgust me how many marine releases there have been and not once have they glanced in the direction of aspect warriors in so long, I don't even know how long it's been, 20 years? who knows.

I expect another boxset release in about 8-12 months that features some Gravis units, similar to Shadowspire.

When the full kits come out we'll get a multi-part Gravis Captain, muti-part Suppressors and the new Gravis unit, as well as perhaps a new vehicle/walker.

Speaking of releases, I believe there will be chapter specific units released with the upcoming supplements.

yeah, supressors are notably absent from the rlease previews so we're clearly not getting multipart supressors. which is a shame

Well they sure as hell aren't doing any DE releases any time soon. Who cares that they've spend the last 3 editions stripping their codex to the bone - what we really need are Roman Marines!

My best guess at this point is that we'll spend at least the next year or so alternating between Marine releases and Chaos releases. The former to advance Primaris as well as adding the usual array of unnecessary crap and the latter to mirror the more distinct chaos factions in Fantasy.

After that, I suspect Chaos releases will dry up for a while and GW can concentrate on releasing even more Marines.

This. Expect to replace you marine codex every two years for the next five iterations, more frequently if they drop a new edition. To think that they will slow releasing new kits, and that the majority won’t be marine-based is foolish. If I recall correctly, a new kit has an initial sell life of 3 months before it drops off significantly, and GW lives off those initial release sales.

It never ends well

If this means frequent releases of amazing new Primaris models, I'm absolutely fine with this.

Have fun rubbing marines together forever.

You'd have to be some kind of masochist to play any xenos army in this environment. At least chaos gets models to do conversions with.

ya know Craft World eldar players would do themselves a favor if they came out and said they wanted plastic aspect warriors rather then using vague statements of "xenos need more"

Given that each xenos army is lumped together as "xenos" by GW, despite there being virtually 0 overlap between them?

Apparently releasing some imperial citizens with genestealer heads counts against getting new models for necrons or Eldar...

I play a lot of armies, Eldar (of all types) being 3 of them.

GW's hard-on for marines has entirely put me off my main army - space Wolves. Which I've collected since 1993.

The army you do or do not play has nothing to do with accurate commentary on GW's poor customer relations and misleading product advertising.

lol I know quite a few Eldar players and unless the aspect warriors are the most powerful units they certainly won't be buying them.

Remember how no one was playing Eldar at the start of 8th before their codex?

What are you talking about? Space wolves have been top chapter since forever. I don't think anyone has more unique models ether. You got your own dreads, your own daemons, you own stormravens, your own santas sleigh, your own scouts, your own assault marines, your own devastators...Really what you are saying is quite comical.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

my point is that many of the people saying "xenos need more units" are specificly saying a partiuclar xenos race does, craftworld eldar are old with a ton of finecast minis (I BTW 100% AGREE that they need some love) but GW does respond to feedback etc, but they're incapable of mind reading etc. if you belive eldar aspect warriors need to get the same kinda treatment CSMs did recently (I agree 100%) you need tyo say so.

and GSCs are more then "just some imperial citizens with head swaps" GSCs have been in the setting lore for ages, (and frankly they're one of the alien races that is easily the most grimdark.. I mean jesus they're HORRIFYING)

How does anyone starting the hobby get invested on anything but those things as they have no experience or knowledge of the rules??

More like a marine player who is ever satisfied is a rare thing indeed.

I don't think thats fair, plenty of people love eldar for the look and lore. plenty of others play them to band wagon sure, but there are lots whom are as passonate about eldar as any marine player is for marines

I see it as an advantage. Sometimes it's frustrating when you painstakingly build and paint a perfect army and then suddenly they change the rules and becomes outdated or even unviable. Especially given the amount of effort that it takes to get 2000 points battle-ready from scratch. I don't mean that never change is good. But some sort of stability is desirable.

Every time an army is very strong you'll get bandwagon members. Like how many " Guard " players did we see in the beginning of 8th ? Rocking their fluffy, and beloved conscript armies, then loyal 32.

I've got multiple of every guard unit/vehicle so its hard for them to nerf guard unless the whole army sucks where I get nothing good from them.

Clumping people who play a tough faction as all on the bandwagon is wrong though, some just get swept up in the power of the month.

How are people OK with this? Those books are expensive! For EUR32.50, I would hope for at least 5 years of validity with digital updates included.

No, they have so much still to release. The non-Transport tanks, The non-tanks, the flyers, support weapons. Something other than Plasma. As for how they'll get us the datasheets, they'll do the same thing they did with the Repulsor Executioner. Screw up the datasheet, and stick it in the box.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.
