In all fairness, that's probably the most realistic moral to ever come from a kids cartoon show.
Yeah. But its coupled with "its ok for a 20 year old dude to hang out with tween girls"
I'm pretty sure they get high on that psychodelic pokemun poison dust at various stages throughout too...

One of my son's pokemon cards mentioned the card's titilar pokemon (sorry, forgot which) has the ability to knock out elephants.
I was mindblown when i saw the mention of a real world animal on a pokemon card. The only logical conclusion is that there are still no animals in pokemon land, but elephants are pokemon which have somehow made it to our world.

That'd be Gastly, being described as being able to envelop and knock out an African elephant. There's a bunch of real-life references in Gen 1 (a random scientist in Silph Co. being sent to the Tiksi Branch of Silph Co. in Siberia, Mew being found in the jungles of Guyana, Gastly with elephants and so on).

Pokemon Go confirms Pokemen are invading our Earth but are currently unable to full manifest and can only be seen using special software.

All of the regions are real places in the world as well for the most part.

Depends on region. In Galar, they subsist entirely on curry. In Alola, they only eat malasadas. In Kalos, I assume they eat croissants, baguettes and cheese.

Someone on one of the girls' videos asked how Pokemon know to say their names or if they are named for whatever sound they make.
But that raises the question of why/how they have all these punny names with cultural and pop references.
So my current theory is Pokemon are an invasive energy race from another dimension.
When they assume form here it is influenced by our collective unconsciousness which why their bodies tend towards the cute, with various cultural tropes (the psychic dude with the spoons, the floating magnet dude with the horseshoe magnets) and why their names sound like something designed by professional writers and marketing teams.

the energy race idea has a good argument in the shape of Pokeballs..
How the HECK is something the size of a Snorlax gonna get sucked into a small ball, unless it is made of energy and has no real volume.. I am thinking the ghost traps from Ghostbusters..

It's so weird that the show pushes the "names" thing so hard and the games still have the original cries from a GB soundboard.

I think it was really just a "dumb idea" they had when they first came up with the Pokemon and they've just painted themselves into a corner and can't leave it anymore.

So Warhammer Daemons basically.
Sounds about right. Would that make Team Rocket the Inquisition?

It's not dumb. It's genius from a brand recognition standpoint. Kids get the unique names for those things drilled directly into the base of their skull.

Exactly this. Whether the kid plays the games or not any pokemon that shows up on the show and says it's name 20 times an episodes becomes something that kid can spot in a store and call out by name. Even when there is almost a thousand of them now. I couldn't name 1000 G.I. Joe and Transofrmers characters combined by name just by looking at them. But pokemon for kids because of that show... feth.

The name that Pokemon outros and intros reinforce that. My girls look at me like an idiot if I can't name the creature by its silhouette.
