Rmour Dog looks aces! How much bigger is he than his Hedgee scale counterpart? Looking forward to seeing him painted together with Moley and Ratty

Thanks gobert. He's probably about as tall but feels a bit heftier, a bit more substantial.
Um, painting... Yeah. I've really not been in much of a painting mood. There's more grey in this box than a confederate reenactment convention. I suppose I should crack out the old hair sticks.

Go with what feels right, sometimes painting can be a slog. If you’re enjoying the sculpt I’ll, do some more!

My two cents,

Thanks CB. The new, ye Olden days R-mour dog is a big hit with the boy. He's calling him Olden Dog! Har har.
Really struggled with the snake scales.
It's messy but I guess I'm ok with it as a basis to work from. I'll prob add some items like a magic cloak and hat etc to try and distract from the messy scales.
Not that I'm blaming my tools (or lack thereof) but this has been the first time that I've felt that my one sculpting tool wasn't really the right shape for what I needed. Maybe like a sharp flat diamond shape end would've been the one? Anywho, I'm not planning on any more snakes any time soon. Just a bird with large wings! Yikes. I might be stretching my sculpting abilities to the limit here.

R-Mour Dog is excellent. I especially like the Airedale/Scottie face. Talking about 'scottie', is that a sporran?
The bird is already excellent. Just the pose and basic shape! Pose and attitude in gaming minis is something that often gets overlooked in favour of piling on detail, IMO. (Let me pick out any two 3d-printed gang kickstarters or patreons from News and Rumours) Things might slow down a bit now, depending on how much you get into the feathers, but IMO you've already got a really good foundation to sculpt them on.
The snake scales don't look too bad from here. I think I can see what you mean down where the coils start, and yeah, I'd chalk that up the difficulty of winkling a sculpting tool into nooks and crannies, and the learning process.
I've felt that my one sculpting tool wasn't really the right shape for what I needed.
What do you use?

Thanks Vermis. Yes I totally agree about dynamic posing and how much it brings to a figure. I would concede though that since I'm not sculpting for production I'm not restricted in the same ways as someone like Mike Lovejoy who has to consider the best shape and pose to produce a strong single piece metal product that will cast well and look great at the same time. It's a whole other skill that is thankfully not yet required of me.
Yes, it is indeed a sporran and it was the inspiration for the dog breed choice. The tail wagging the dog a bit there maybe.
And this be it. My stainless steel magic wand.
It's got a good combination of sharpness and roundness, flatness and curves. The only other thing I ever really use is a notice board pin for eyes or little holes.

Excited to see more of the bird (not big on reptiles), but the snake is also coming along nicely.

Well as Vermis predicted things have indeed slowed down a bit.
Getting on with the tail feathers has been an education but I have a good few WFB birds in my old wood elves army to use as refference. The snake scales continue in patches with only the top of his head left to complete.
Still planing some kind of clothing for both though. So some of the scales and feathers will likely end up covered over. I think the crow will get trousers and maybe a hood. The snake is going for a Victorian hypnotist vibe. Top hat and tails.

Hypno Snake is fully sculpted and ready to paint.
Assuming I ever get round to painting anything in this project!
Ive gone for a tasteful Victorian magician costume, top hat and tails with a nice pinned cravat and diamond cuff link.

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty pleased with the result. Bowler hat or Top hat? It's somewhere in between isn't it, which I like. It makes him look like a sneaky snake oil huckster type, trying to dress himself up to scam people.
Anyway, on with the progress update.
Bird man just got some trews and then I went and started a new, massive sized badger sculpt! That's gonna be a beast.
Maybe I'm just procrastinating on getting into sculpting those wings.

I took a little pic to show you.
And look, Paint! He's not quite finished yet but I'd say most of the hard work's done. Just some more washes and highlights I reckon.
In other news, I finally took the plunge and got on with the first wing sculpt.
Pretty tricky but I seem to have got the hang of it. It's jut going to take a LONG time to do both sides of both wings. Still I'm enjoying the experience. Don't think I'll do another bird for a while though.

They’re not too dissimilar size wise, though an Alsatian would be much larger than a Scottie irl, so that puts the scale quite a bit different I suppose.
The feathers are really looking great, but I can see how they’d take so long and put you off doing another anytime soon!

I can see burnout after that many feathers, but it came out quite nicely for the effort! Angle makes it hard to tell, looks like they're stabilizing the spear on the wing? Nice little detail if so!

There's a ton of details on those feathers and it looks like a lot of work, but well worth it. I imagine that bird's got to be pretty good at multi-tasking with a spear, wings, and pouches to mess with during battle

Thanks for all the comments and encouragement everyone. Sorry no update. Nothing new to show, not even a half painted anything. I've been loaded with the cold (it's not the covid so I'll not complain) so I've not been feeling very creative. Hopefully I'll get back at it soon.

Thanks guys, glad yous enjoy his snappy glad rags.
Well since this is supposed to be a sculpting project I've gotten back into the green stuff and begun building up this big fella.
I also fattened him up with a few blobs of milliput just so he wasn't such a long tall drink of water.
This badger isn't going to be the Royalist type, I think. I can buy a royalist badger, all shiny plate armour and the like if I want one. But this fella is more the raggedy mercenary badger type. A big gruff brute that likes to click little critters' doors down and steal their silverware.
