I had never heard of this game before this blog but I am so happy that I have now. Your fur and feathers are incredible mate; the patience is unreal. Working backwards I would never have picked that some of the sculpts weren't done by professional model companies.

Your character ideas are hilarious and inspiring and I will be following this blog with interest! Thanks for sharing!

Nice work on the new fella. He also looks a bit like giving off the winning shot in a football championship

Thanks tzurk I really appreciate that. The pictures are hiding a multitude of sins though. There's a gulf of perfection seperating my work from the pros, trust me. Glad you're enjoying the big green journey.

Sculpting continues on my big Brock football hooligan. (Thanks Vit, you're absolutely right. I'll have to name him after a footballer with some Badger pun name. Shame my entire football knowledge comes from 1995 premier league football stickers. I'll be happy to hear any of your comedy footie name suggestions.

Gave him a big fuzzy tum. And you can see I've moved the little purse pocket from the right hip over to the left. I'm going to sling a satchel on the right there.

And a nice shabby leather vest/coat thingy. I've tried to indent where I want a cross belt bag strap to go over that left shoulder and down his back tucking under the coat on the right side and up across his chest.

Great sculpting as ever theCrowe. It’s the little details that get me, like how neat the little belt buckle is.

Whilst my football knowledge went on about a decade longer, I can’t think of any badger related names. Google didn’t help and now I’m trying not to get sucked in to a MrWeebl YouTube hole! Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Mushroom, Mushroom! Oh how much better I could’ve done had I gone to uni ahead of the internet!

As far as I'm aware badger-related footballer nicknames never featured in the Bundesliga and I'm even hazy on normal ones regarding that animal So can't help you there

Thanks everyone. I'm excited to see the big fella coming together. No progress to show on him tonight. I've done his bag but I'll wait to add some more before I take a pic. In the meantime.

Painted Minis!

Two Shrew-zerkers. My own sculpt on the left, and Mike Lovejoy's original on the right.

Still no further on Striker the Badger.

But in the meantime, here's two more painted sculpts.

Batman and Mouse Guard.

Shrew-zerkers... I'm gonna steal this. Your version, painted, is just the right thing for the whole company of B-n-B shrews. An admirable feat, congratulations!

Bat and mouse are both very good. Have a vibe from old tin dwarfs and harpies of GW and Reaper some 20 years ago.

Yeah, I can see the influence of some of my oldest WFB miniatures in these fellas for sure. I really should do some research and see who sculpted some of that old stuff. Learn who my influences really are.

Speaking of influences, I had another look at Mike Lovejoy's original badger sculpting tutorial to get a notion of how the badger's head should look.

Stage one is curing,

Stage two will see ears, teeth and likely a hat! (I do love an animal in a hat)

Hi folks, back once again with another few steps toward badger sculpt completion.

First we have some extended armatures for the arms and axe.

Drilled a hole, plonked some wire in, added an old plastic axe-head. Glued it all up nice and solid. Next on this will be to give it some milliput for filler and basic shape.

But the real fun was on this end.

Oh yes, badger got teeth and ears and a Peaky Blinders hat!

So now he's a Peaky Boy it's kind of hard to avoid the name Tommy and of course Beatrix Potter's badger character was Tommy Brock so... that fits I suppose.
But, you know I haven't been falling over myself to name my other sculpts for this project so I don't see why this guy gets special treatment, just cause he's big. Maybe I should name the rest of them all. Any suggestions will be considered.

Tommy’s looking good, but then again who doesn’t love an animal in a hat! Especially a badger in a hat! As for names for the others, the bat from page 1 strikes me as a Boris for some reason, maybe the cricket bat makes me think public schoolboy? Dave is always a good animal name in our house, Dave the a polar bear being the first iteration!

Well... Dave is my name. So I may as well just name the crow after myself. Come to think of it, he needs a hat.

We have a polar bear teddy called SnowJoe.

I like Boris the bat. Perfect.

Quick progress update

I migh file that elbow into shape but otherwise good to go on big furry arms and fists.

Arms are coming along nicely and it shows the strength of Tommy that he doesn't even bother with the axe. "It's enough I kicks them down, I don't need no axe!"

Ntmu Dave, and the crow clearly now has to be called Dave too!

We have a badger named Joe and a bear called Lenny . Our other Polar Bear is called Dorothy, Dotty for short!

Tommy is coming along very well

Big Tommy the Peaky Boy badger is all done and ready to boot down the door to your burrow.

He's now got two completed arms,

Brass knucks for a mean left hook.

And of course his big old axe in the right.

Looking forward to getting these all on proper bases soon. And then it's paint paint paint!

I like the nun, she’s cool! Tommy looks suitably fierce. I look forward to seeing him with paint on

Thanks guys. Yeah he is a bit of an odd one. I suppose no miniature sculptor with an eye toward production would choose a pose like that. You'd have to cast it in at least four parts.

But I suppose I can buy a conventional badger. If I'm making my own I may as well go for something I can't buy.

I'd love to see this guy side by side against an Oathsworn badger just for comparison sake. And to have one of those beauties in my collection too of course.

Nothing else on the sculpting schedule at the moment. I'm enjoying the painting for the time being. But you never know when the notion might strike.

I do need a fox and an owl and maybe a couple more weasels.

Another side by side of two painted minis.

My own sculpt of a... Weasel?.. Stoat?.. Rat? He's not as long as I'd have liked though I do like him well enough.
And then on the right its an Oathsworn original by the man himself. A lovely squirrel archer. One of my favourites so far. I'd like to maybe have a crack at a squirrel myself. Something really athletic and dynamic looking.
