Sadly, logical thinking isn’t a thing here these days.
People are far too busy running around like headless chickens and screaming at each other to use any form of logical or even rational thinking.
The site has gone to gak over the last few years.
People seem to be rewarded for endless troll posts and whining while mods just ignore it.
Only reason I’ve not deleted my account long ago is because modelling wise, the forum has some great stuff.
If you want reasonable discussions about rules etc then I’d suggest discord or B&C etc.
All you will get here is endless screaming and constant personal attacks for using reason and logic.

It probably is going to be difficult to find a place to discuss 40k on the internet where nobody or almost nobody has negative reactions to things. But perhaps you should just ask yourself why it upsets you to hear opinions less positive than your own? That seems odd to me. It doesn't ruin my day if someone here thinks GW is God's gift to the world, and it also doesn't ruin my day if someone thinks GW is terrible. It doesn't impact me one way or the other, it's just some person's opinion. One of the good things about dakka is that if you don't want to engage a person, you can just not engage them; the mods will do a good job of removing posts from people who can't leave well enough alone and can't avoid making things personal. Nothing forces you respond to anything anyone else says.
I wouldn't consider it all that hyperbolic to be honest. I'd challenge you to find a thread on a new release that can survive more than a page before either GW is hit, space marines are dragged up, or it's declared either useless or broken.
I have absolutely no problem with people being negative. My complaint stems from every single thread turning into a negative spiral and the same ground and tired issues being dragged up. News and rumours in particular is incredibly frustrating when you go to find out about a new release or leak, and you have to wade through pages of back and forth arguments about marines getting more releases than everyone else, or being OP since 2.0, or how the new Necron unit isn't as good as X in the marine codex and is trash tier.
I don't think the game is in a bad place, and the hobby is in a fantastic place and that GW for the most part is doing a solid job. If you feel differently, that may be why the overall tone of Dakka isn't as noticeable to you.
Please don't make presumptions that I'm upset by others thinking differently or that people not being super positive all the time bothers me. This is the position that others have attempted to paint me in before, and it's simply not true. I enjoy debating and discussion with people that don't think the same way. My issue comes with the derailment of multiple threads with the same tired old issues that are not related to the topic at hand at all.
It would really be great if you wouldn't put words in my mouth too.

Fair play, I agree with the OP entirely though in that the sheer volume of knee jerk doom and gloom is entirely premature and unnecessary.
Even if they do gak the bed with balance, even if some factions are left in the rain for a little while, there will be some people who genuinely love marines and should be excited by this release. Those are people who now face threads on here asking if they'll be banned from playing, being told people hate that they enjoy their favourite faction and how their opponents are saying they'll have a rubbish time. All without the book even being out.
it's almost like they should play this game instead

I'm in 3 seperate discord channels. ALL are capable of discussing upcoming releases without the hyperbolic self centered whining. likewise other places are seemingly able to be positive, I blame the mods. yet again we had someone ehre whom was out of control and given like 3 or 4 "last warnings" before the mods finally took action.

I don't think I put any words in your mouth, though I'm sorry if I did? You said most posts were calling stuff a dumpster fire, etc. I simply pointed out that that isn't true. Now you've changed your argument and said that there's at least one post in most threads saying that, which is probably accurate; if you had said that originally I wouldn't have said it was wrong.
If it doesn't impact your enjoyment to see negative opinions you disagree with, why post what you did? You say it's because of "the derailment of multiple threads," but it isn't really derailing, it's just something you personally don't want to read about. And that's fine - you shouldn't read what you don't want to read. But it's not off topic to a thread about new releases for someone to bemoan the fact that the faction in question is getting all the releases; it may be tiresome, but it's not off topic. The dakka mods actually do quite a good job of keeping threads on topic. It's just that "on topic" doesn't mean "what I want to talk about, and not what I don't want to talk about." If someone is being tiresome, just don't engage them.
This whole thread is essentially hyperbolic whining about hyperbolic whining. It's kinda ironic.

Because in the GK FAQ we just got, GW wrote exactly that. They know that some books can be worse, or even much worse then other, but what would people want? GW not starting marines their best seller and most popular army, or maybe giving powerful and good rules to not marines first?
they want it at the same time. Call it an index, and sell rules to every non marine player twice. Once for index. Once for codex.

Hi Folks!
I made a satirical post yesterday regarding the negative hyperbole, as I am also tired of a constant stream of negativity.
But...
I also posted my first impressions of 9th, with an overall positive perspective. My suggestion would be that if you have something positive to share, do so! Be the change you wish to see, and all that.
If you’re finding ways to offset any perceived imbalances, share them! At the start of 8th, my Guard were in a very strong position. So I played with a 10% handicap.
If you’re playing with friends, you can fix a ton of imbalance issues with a points “imbalance” to fix the power imbalance.

An index is the bare minimum you need to play, it won't have chapter tactics strats, etc. if GW released an index again you'd swiftly get complaining, the first month or two of 8th edition also saw a lot of salt from people who didn';t have a codex getting beat by space marines. who did. thing is that changed fairly fast so folks rarely talk about those days except the odd chaos player whose salty about the plague war

wargames are supposed to replicate war, sometimes staying alive till X turn or denying your opponent objectives is just as important as winning. Remember, the skirmish you're playing is just a small portion of the overall battle. You may need to hold out so another unit can take the objective, or delay the force you're currently engaged with or.....? not everything should be fair, sacrificing one force to help another is a real thing, baiting a trap is real, etc...
not everything has to be fair. Titanicus has an really good mechanic for this. But since it's not "balanced" a portion of the playerbase will dismiss it out of hand.
if you only like playing equal, then you should adjust your skill to that of your opponent. but that's not how games work.

As a game? It should be fair by default.
In the context of a pick-up-game, it ABSOLUTELY should be fair.
In the context of a narrative campaign? Then it's totally fine to make the game unfair, as per the narrative and the players' agreement.
But here's the thing-it's really easy to make a fair game unfair. Give the side that's supposed to be better more points. Or free rules. Or respawning units. Or any other buff-vice versa, nerf the side that's supposed to be weaker.
It's MUCH harder to make an unfair game fair-and that should be, in theory, why we pay GW money for rules-because they've done that hard work.

If you want an overall positive community regarding 40k I suggest you look elsewhere, like bolterandchainsword or various youtubechannels.
