Mort was the first of the disc world books I read and is my favorite.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

As with you al the discworld gets a huge shout.
But I LOVE Ender's game and the rest of the series, they just work so so well.

I enjoyed the heck out of the first in the series, and I may have read the second, but have little memory of the story. I may have to give it a second read.

The Ciaphas Cain novels.
They’re definitely 40K, but not as you normally know it, Jim.
Is he a coward, or is he suffering from impostor syndrome? Yes. And no. To both. At the same time.
There’s some solid 40K background and action, mixed in with Blackadder style comedy. I’m usually part way through one or other of the books.
They may prove too flippant for some 40K fans, but I enjoy them immensely.

Riftwar Saga by Raymond E Feist
Blows lord of the rings out of the water for a re-read. Better than David Eddings, Dragon lance, forgotten realms, wheel of time and so on.
I've been through it 4~ times at this point. It just does fantasy worldbuilding better.
I fell off with Ender's game after book 4 or 5. Finished Dune but really didnt like some of the books - e.g. House Harkonnen

I do like a fantasy/sci-fi book (Equal Rites will always be "my" Discworld novel), but I don't find them especially re-readable. I've read Starship Troopers a few times. I've probably re-read The Divine Comedy Inferno more than any other book.

Hah. My son was just saying today that he wants to go through Magician et al again
It is much more expansive than LOTR, but is a very different focus, so they both do different things for me.

I find Fiest runs out of steam fast. Magician is fantastic and I really should re-read it. However I find that his stories that come after seem to fall super fast into feeling like DnD adventures. They lose that epic scope and feeling that Magician had - they lose some of the magic and quality in my view.
I have, however, heard very good things about his co-authored series. The name escapes me as I've yet to get around to reading them, but they were co-written with, I believe, Janny Wurts.

Daughter, Servant and mistress of the Empire.
They are also amazing and thoroughly explore the Kelewan side of the rift. They also neatly and interestingly mesh into the Magician series, but I don’t think you really need to have read them first.
I haven’t read them to my son as they have rather more adult themes going on

Interestingly Magician is actually based on Feist's long running RPG campaign (i think it was D&D but it's too long since i've read the foreword to remember for certain)
I'm not sure if the follow ups were even though (as you say) they do read more like a campaign write up than the original book

Speaker for the dead onwards gets a bit crazy, but I really like how it's a total shift. The shadow books following bean are totally different too, they all come together to something more than the sum of their parts IMO. Card may not be a good guy, from what I've read about him it seems crazy because so much of the series is about acceptance.
Edit to add. I really enjoy the Dresden Files too. Started as a trashy novel for a break after god emperor of dune and bloody loved them after about book 3.
