I predict fresh disappointment, arbitrary new box-based wargear restrictions, newly unavailable wargear for characters, and a new Space Marines codex within 12 months which will upstage CSM on every level

It would be great to see a fully combined chaos codex but I think it's a bit trickier than with the eight data sheets of the harlies.
Something like the traveling players rule where you can soup in a patrol of demons into a marine force (and vice versa) would be cool.

And decouple it from power level while we are at it. It makes no sense that you have a 1 in 3 chance to summon 30 Pink Horrors, but the followers of Nurgle have worse than a 1 in 10 chance of summoning 30 Plaguebearers.

They'll copy and paste the datasheets for the dinobots and the hellturkey straight from the TS dex, so that the keywords make them unusable for four weeks.

Decent internal balance and overall, good datasheets for every entry BUT the Codex will be overpowered because of insanely low points cost.

my wish on the codex is being able to blend well with chaos knights codex and being able to bring a knight with chaos marines without losing keywords. I think this should be the case for all imperium armies as well limit to a super heavy auxilary detachments costs 3cp but you get to bring 1 knight attached.

The cultist part of the list, depsite the HQ squad, will suck and never see any table. Somehow legionaires still suck aswell turning this in another dex that activly goes out of its way to field anything but troops. In good CSM fashion those other options will range from mostly rubbish to completely bonkers strat stacking.

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

What do you mean by somehow? If legion csm don't get buffs similar to those of BT. then they are going to be as efficient as a slightly modified version of a marine lists based around assault intercessors.

Chaos Terminators will have 4 wounds and a 2+3++ with combi-bolters and Daemon swords standard, for 75 points per squad. All other weapons available to them will be free.

There will be a Table wide removal of Invulns psyker power.

They will get an army wide +1 attacks and +1 to wound against loyalist factions.

There will be exactly 6 hundred and 66 errors in the codex, that will only be fixed after the first 6 tournament halls explode in blood fountains and the entire competitive scene is disrupted.

Abbadon will now cost 120 USD, but come with a woolknit hat option, because it's cold in the warp.

The Fallen will still not have a codex entry, or a second wound. But SOMEHOW have primaris.

All units will be limited to what's on the sprue.

No Combi-Plasma Termicide, no lascannons for Legionnaires, no jump packs for Lords or Sorcerers.

Except Havocs. Inexplicably.

I "heavily" suspect we will get a new Huron Blackheart model - well overdue. Also new rules for Red Corsairs.

Other than that...prepare to be disappointed. GW needs a whipping boy faction and CSM seem to make a good scapegoat.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

CSM Codexes always skip an edition. GW stopped publishing them for odd-numbered editions since the disastrous 3rd ed Codex.

- August 2017: 8th ed Codex: Chaos Space Marines

- December 2016: 7th ed Codex Supplement: Traitor Legions

- September 2016: 7th ed Codex Supplement: Traitor's Hate

- October 2012: 6th ed Codex: Chaos Space Marines

- September 2007: 4th ed Codex: Chaos Space Marines

- June 2002: 3rd ed Codex: Chaos Space Marines v2

- July 1999: 3rd ed Codex: Chaos Space Marines v1

- August 1996: 2nd ed Codex: Chaos Space Marines

Notice how the months of the release dates line up with Sacred Numbers of the Gods:

- August (8) - Khorne
- October (10) - Unaligned
- September (9) - Tzeentch
- June (6) - Slaanesh
- July (7) - Nurgle

The pattern appears to be Khorne > Nurgle > Slaanesh > Tzeentch > Unaligned. This would suggest we are back to Nurgle, so July is the best bet for a release date.

Also, since 9th is an odd-numbered edition, the new Codex will be cursed like 3rd was. Would not touch it until a consensus of other players confirm it's safe to play.

Hmm.

Heavy weapons being restricted to ML, Heavy Bolter, Reaper Autocannon (because why give us functional autocannons when they can give us the nerfed to hell Reapers instead?) and Chaincannon.

Special and Heavy weapons restricted to 1 of each per 10.

Now only a CSM player.

Odd numbered edition = cursed codex.

Third was so bad, they had to make it twice. Took 5 years and a new edition before the curse relented.

Not to mention, Gav Thorpe was the author, the curse cost him more than most. Within a few years, he could no longer continue in game design and was reduced to scribbling fluff for HH.

Sad, really.

Sounds like we're getting new Posessed Marines, a Legionary Upgrade, Possibly a new Lord Kit, Possibly a new Demon Prince kit. The full release for Chosen, Warpsmith and who knows what else it could be.
