The only problem I can see is that the LC being dmg 1 means I’m not that great against other 2 wound armies. That looks a pretty good loadout. LCs are weaker vs 2-wound armies but they are better at clearing lighter units with +1A and no penalty to-Hit. You could drop in a couple of Chainfists to cut through heavier armour.
Do you know where I can get a Relic Terminator Kit I’ve been googling around and I’m just finding assault terminators? Am I dumb?
They're mainly horus heresy kits, so they both got pulled a few weeks ago, before the pre-order of the new edition went up. 10 Cataphractii are included in the new heresy starter box, so ebay will likely be flooded with them from box splitters come Saturday 18th. Failing that, both types are being reboxed, so cataphractii and tartaros terminators should be coming back as standalone purchases soon - the two types got merged into the 'relic terminators' datasheet for 40k so you can use either. While they both come with LC/chainfists, only the tartaros comes with the reaper autocannon/plasma blaster bits, for cataphractii you need the forgeworld upgrade kit. Tartaros are quite short though, cataphractii are primaris eye height.

It's not like having a few patterns of looted armour would be uncharacteristic of a Space Sharks army.

Cataphracti are going to be in the big HH 30k box that’s dropping next week. I suspect there is going to be a flood of them hitting ebay/resellers soon. Or up for trade at the FLGS.

There are 10 cataphractii in the upcoming HH starter set, so presumably a general plastic kit for them will be along in due course if you can wait a bit.

That's an old kit. Came out with the Calth box (prospero had the Tartaros terminators), and was a stand-alone box for a while. Presumably it'll be reboxed like the mark 3 and 4 marines. Probably the Tartaros as well.

Would someone be willing to advise me on arming Terminators for Blood Angels? I am currently without any Tactical Dreadnaught armor but I've got 15 Termies in a box. I've been playing Grindark with my 2nd-4th edition BA figures but if I'm going to build and paint them, I'd like to at least have them armed up well for current 40k.
I've got 5 plastic TM's (unpictured) and a bits stock to arm them up anyway I want. I'm leaning toward lightning claws mostly for coolness for these, but I'm open to other suggestions.
Below is a picture of the 10 metal terminators (yes, two are DW, might trade or mod those) and Librarian. 3 possibilities I'm considering.
-I like the stock Thunderhammers and shields and I have plenty of bits so I could probably convert up enough to make them all that way.
-Another option might be 8 Thunderhammers and 2 squad leaders with some other weapon?
-Maybe one Squad with Thunderhammers and shields and another squad as a non-assault terminator squad? What would be a good loadout for a standard squad?
Any advice is appreciated.
Also, any feelings about basing for old termies for current play.? I know original bases are legal and probably have an in-game advantage, but even in the 90's Terminators seemed too big for them and I'd rather not have alot of tipping of metal figures. 32mm would be perfect, but I gather that's completely illegal. I've somehow would up with enough good looking 40mm scenic bases, but they might seem tiny on those.

Thunder hammers are a bit more valueable for BA because you get 4A on the charge T3 instead of the 3 that other Space Marines get, while going from 5A to 6A with lightning claws isn't as big a deal (+20% instead of +33%). Since you don't have 5 chainfists I would just go for Terminator Assault Squads. But you never know how points are going to shake out, I wouldn't worry too much about what the most efficient choices are and ask if you can proxy whatever the most efficient option is if you get around to playing 9th or 10th with your Termies.
Your Sergeant is the first guy to give a thunder hammer to just because he has an extra attack, so he is more likely to make the hammer worth it.
Old bases are not always legal, in the events run by the Frontline Gaming you have to update your bases, consider base extenders if you don't think they are ugly. Clipping the slotters and pinning the models to some cork on top of 40mm bases is another option and what I think would look the best and be the most fair.

Thanks for that. I may give all the metal terminators thunder hammers. probably will mount them on resin 40mm scenic bases. I found some more today while sorting. For most figures my process is to cut the tabs down to pegs and anchor them to holes I make in the bases. Damages the resale value, but who cares.
Not concerned in the least about tournament legality as that's not my scene but 40mm is probably the best choice to cut down on tipping. Will not be shimming them higher though. Would ruin the whole point of scenic bases.
As for the plastic terminators, is there a reason to go with chainfists? I could make 5 of those. Still leaning towards Lightning claws for coolness, but I'm open to suggestions.

I got a picture of 2nd ed Terminators on 40mm bases for ya. What I did for them was use a dremel saw to cut slots in them. Imo it's easier than pinning, and works great. This side angle view I don't like the bases so much, but from a higher angle looking down they look nice enough. You can see that more with the chaos ones (also 2nd ed)

Those look nice Insectum, slotta bases have always failed me, I guess you just have to put a little more effort into them to touch them up. Eilif wrote:As for the plastic terminators, is there a reason to go with chainfists? I could make 5 of those. Still leaning towards Lightning claws for coolness, but I'm open to suggestions.
Regular shooty Terminators have chainfists or power fists, currently power fists are just bad chainfists and cost the same at the moment. Chainfists might end up being overcosted by the time you play so that's why I say not to worry too much. Assault Terminators have thunder hammers or lightning claws, you cannot take any chainfists in a Terminator Assault Squad, that's why I said you need 5 chainfists to make a shooty Terminator Squad, power fists are bad and mixing is not allowed.

^I find the trick with slottas is taking some small pliers and giving the metal bit a little kink in the middle to tighten the fit. Just a little twist of the hand gives a very slight "S" curve. It's easy to adjust the tightness of the fit in the base, and it's very quick.

I’ll second this. It’s been my MO since the old days when working with Slottas.
As I snow flock my bases the gaps around the mini are not an issue. I just glue a little scrap of paper over it if it’s too big, and then bury it in flock paste.
Chainfists have some perks, but I really like the flat 2 damage of the powerfist over the d3. I used to think the AP-3 on the fist was enough and the -4 on the chain was generally overkill, but with AoC and the -1D stuff out there, that might tip thing to rev up the chains.

That works well to be sure. I've been leaning into scenic bases recently though. My inclination is actually to rebase and touch up the entire army as it is currently painted in plain block colors on plain goblin green bases.
I've got a huge quantity of sedition wars plastic scenic bases that have a good starship/industrial look to them.

Is there a limit to the number of chainfists in a standard squad?

Thanks for the pics. They look great to me. Definitely going with 40s now.
