It's a cool mini but it's a marine yet again. Also turning Warhammer day into Warhammer 40k day is a bit of a bummer if you prefer everything else gw does.

Since there is now relative parity between the GBP and the Dollar, GW should celebrate their 35th anniversary by reducing prices for product in NA.

Its a great looking piece, but I'm a bit sad they didn't go for a link to that iconic Crimson Fist scene from the Rogue Trader cover.

There is only one true way to celebrate any Anniversary of 40K; A battle at the Farm box set. The Orks, Fists, farm scenery and Rogue Trader reprint...

...the whole damn thing.

Also, congrats to Orks everywhere for making it on the anniversary mini !

You could easily turn this guy into a blessed son of Fulgrim. I'm considering it myself. Remove the dumb ankle balls, switch out the sword for a bladegheist one or something, maybe a head swap, and change the greenskin for a loyalist space marine.

I'm excited for this model even though I don't use Emperor's Champ. It will look good next to my other BT chars on a shelf at least.

If they really want to celebrate 35 years, in addition to the Farm Box @SamusDrake mentioned, they should also make a miniature of Illiyan Natase.

Or re-release the old Iron Claw Squat Hover Car.

Urusei Yatsura, Cerebus the Aardvark, Machiavelli, Plato and Happy Days. So, how was your childhood?

Model is kinda nice but I wish it wasn't rehash of already existing mini, but some of dozen missing SM characters. Or Gravis Emperor's Champion, if it really has to be BT locked model. Though, anatomy, proportions, and dynamic pose of this dude just makes all recent FW releases look like utter gak, especially DG dude who is 2/3 legs/pauldrons. There is just no comparison, all recent Primaris releases make old style squats with broken pelvis missing half the spine look good 10-15 years older in comparison...

It would be nice to have a generally available primaris company champion, or chapter champion.

There is one, but funnily (or stupidly, really) it's event exclusive too. Hopefully rules will be in next SM book so people can convert their own.

I was just looking into him a few days ago.

Marine champions have been part of the marine organizational structure for a while now. We can have a firstborn one, but not a primaris one which is a bit silly. But NMNR. As someone who’s putting together a primaris battle company, the lack irritates me.

And the fact that there is one out there, but exclusive, is salt in the wound.

That Primaris model looks so much worse than the artwork it's ripping off.

Yea, God forbid they celebrate the game and faction that has carried their company for the last 35 years.

Did anyone say otherwise? Give it it's own day, and use Warhammer Day for all the games.

That's what they are doing though? Warhammer day is may. This i# 40k birthday.

Also you do realite whether they show other games here or not amount of stuff you get to see in previews stays the same don't you?

Fun mini, I'm a huge fan of GW's fanservice towards these old artworks.
There's so much inspiration to take from them and seeing them as minis is just awesome.
Long may it continue!

Considering how bad RoP is performing, it wouldn't surprise me if the LotR sales did not meet expectations. Which is a shame, because it means the playerbase will not get the attention that the game system needs to flourish.

I think you're putting far too much thought on how the two would intertwine. The game has nothing to do with the period of the show, so crossover would have been minimal anyway.

Agreed, I never expected RoP to have an impact on the LOTR playerbase one way or the other. At this point anyone over the age of 10 has been exposed to Tolkien/LOTR and either likes it or doesn't.

Wait...Entitled Bayard’s Revenge!

This isn't just any model this is that Champion that fell at the Battle of Helsreach fighting alongside Grimaldus against the Orks at the Temple of the Emperor Ascendant.

If I can swing it, I think I want at least two; one to build as-is and at least one more for conversions.
There’s a great monster-slaying theme here and Warhammer has lots of monsters so there’s that, plus if you do replace the Ork with a carnifex or something, you can make a duel of the warbosses or something with the base.
