It's the CAD sculpting. You lose all the imperfections that give hand sculpted things their "life".
Some of that can be regained from a more sympathetic paint job, evy metal style doesn’t show off “character” very well, it isn’t very evocative. A good paint job where he is under some stage lighting would do it wonders.
I'd go a step further and say the painting is the main problem, not the sculpting.
GW's "official" paint style sucks for Orks, it makes them look plastic and inorganic.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
