I’m dreading the HQ stuff. I’ve never really enjoyed painting characters.

Anyways. Nearly done with this build phase.

Just need to do the torso jet nozzles, pauldrons and bonces.

Really enjoyed the assembly. Now, once the glue has a proper chance to dry, I’ll get spraying. Which means it’s time to put the heating on, so the spray can isn’t all cold.

Oh I’m away from my hobby tools. Had extended kitty cuddles, and the Nephloof being a very good, very affectionate boy.

Gonna head home around 9pm, and get the last coat of spray on the Castellax so I can hit the ground running tomorrow.

Should also dig out my paints and that, too.

Spent this evening playing Path of Exile 2, being a right little murder hobo.

But there’s still time for a quick spray job. Oh yes.

Doobedoo. First batch had some bits missed on the back, so touched them up and did some more.

This evening I’ll start laying down the drybrush. First Mahogany, then Gun Metal to give me an industrial metal finish.

Quite possible I’ll have all units done by the end of the week. Which is nice.

That was close.

Out to post a parcel (left over Castellax pew pews), and my meanderings took me past FLGS, Chaos Cards.

Naturally I availed myself of the facility and grabbed a couple of paint pots for when I do my Striking Scorpions. I also noticed they’d had a small restock of Mechanicum.

I very nearly bought more Thallaxi. But only very nearly. For I’m yet to have Kit Kredit, and so can’t be buying owt more right now.

Work’s systems are down, so it’s Sneaky Hobby O’Clock. Which calls for a sneaky unit, I trust you’ll agree.

The squad has that down, nothing but empty bases visible. Sneak-100. Exarch looking good.

How you planning on painting them? I’m going to probably up a squad next month, but am having a tough time deciding on a scheme.

Found a YouTube recipe, using Contrast and carefully applied spot colours to accent stuff.

Happy to report the Scorpions are a lovely kit.

Legs a wee bit finnickity to get to the right position, but once built they’re nicely detailed and balance well on their bases.

And the spraying of the Automata took way longer than expected, but it’s done now.

Rest of the week will be spent getting them painted. And it’s the same simple scheme as the rest of my Automata.

Heavy drybrush Mahogany, medium drybrush Gun Metal. That’s the industrial metal done.

Then True Copper over the armour plates and strategic bits. Then strategic Ork Flesh Contrast to pick out some armour plates.

From there whip round for a tidy up, and add some brighter metallics here and there to brighten up and define stuff.

And having deleted Path of Exile 2, as it’s largely unplayable when you’ve specced into melee?

It’s back to the hobby.

Got the gunmetal drybrush down on the Castellax. And tomorrow, I’ll do the same for the Thallaxi. Hoping and aiming to get them done over the next week or so. I need Kit Credit for the Eldar release after all.

Bit of Zandri Dust, which once done will be followed with a Wraithbone zenithal. From there, Sigvald Burgundy, I think.

Back on the Automata, as I desperately need to build up Kit Credit, so I can purchase some shiny new Pointy Ears.

Once the brass is done, it’s Ork Flesh Contrast on the panels, then a whip round with a bright silver to add some crisp edges and vary the underlying metal, suggesting mixed materials used for the build. After that, some dods of red for spot and variety.

Once all dried, out with the Ork Flesh contrast.

Even based. Forgot just how enjoyable the Mechanicum stuff is to paint.

Kit Credit = 3 However I’m not immediately scuttling off to balance that with new purchases. I want to get the Thallaxi done (possibly tomorrow?), and at least a squad of Eldar done before that.

Those look really good in that color scheme. I've said it before and I'll say it again, 30k Mechanicum is way cooler than 40k AdMech.
