Amongst the Stars, In the Night

Perhaps the only thing I've disagreed with Nyarly about: I like static poses in my army men. Dynamic poses tend to be too situation specific for my taste. (I'm not digging the built-in scenery for the same reason.) A guy just standing there could be about to do anything, but a guy posed mid-run with sword drawn is pretty relegated to charging and chopping. That said, I love the Autarch although I'll be leaving the Hawk wings off mine.

Ah, I can appreciate that. It's the legs stiffly planted in an inverted 'v', stiff, straight back, possibly rotated off plane (but unlikely) and one or both arms in the air in the signature "wave your arms like you don't care" poses that soooo many of their figs have. I don't mind the occasional "epic leader, standing tall on the conquered rock, overlooking the victorious field of battle" figures, but I would really like to see more dynamic poses in the metals. Bend the knees some, bring the legs together, even have a some kneeling figures or ones in a crouch. Coiled poses. That kind of thing.

And now for something I'm sure we agree on: "Dirty Boots" + "Mote" + Raymond Pettibone = classic

Indeed good sir! It's a Cool Thing to have a Titanium Expose with Mildred Pierce after a Song for Karen. That's terrible, I know, so I'll dissappear now.

Why are they all standing on rocks and such?

I've seen the Reaper Exarch with both weapon options and both look like things you can buy in sex shops. A weapon should not look like this, not even a Emperor's Children weapon. -Symbio Joe

Well, after the touch-and-go nature of some recent releases, I couldn?t be more pleased. I would make room for all of these in an Eldar army. Even if I quibble, there?s not a pooch in the bunch. Well done, GW.

The more I look at these, the more I see Eldar in my future.  This is like back in WD 108, or whichever one had the first Jes Goodwin Eldar.  This range looks great.

They look awsome. This might be the first Army to entice me to buy the BIG box.

Personally I think all of these models are amazing.

The Autarch model is fantastic and I can't understand why people dont like it. Painted nicely this would make a truly beautiful figure and I for one will be buying this box (the only one i ever will or have) just for this model.

Also whats wrong with static poses? The Fire dragon exarch for example looks beautiful, its such a great sculpt. Why have him running or jumping or doing some other BS? Thats why we have imagination, and static poses make sawing and conversions much easier.

I have to disagree with the Autrach space marine point. He looks nothing like a space marine at all, he looks like a big bad as* Eldar, which is a nice change from the whimpy elves in space vibe.

Thanks for these pics of the resins they are great, and I love the fact that Jes is taking the models more old school in look, i hated the last versions especially the gay Dark Reapers, now those were a huge step backwards.

Gay dark reapers?

They seemed pretty bad tempered to me, or do you mean homosexual? But thinking about that, i don't get it either.

In England the term is used more generally to mean rubbish or naff.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned elsewhere but are there any confirmed dates for release of the new Eldar codex and army sets?

So far, what I have heard is that GW's big push for October is Fantasy Orcs, with Eldar coming out in November. There are unconfirmed reports though that the BIG bow will come out at the end of October.

Either way, it looks to be about 2 months away, before you see anyhting.

It can mean the same thing in America (except for the naff part, we don't have anything that means naff), it's just a bigoted way of saying it.

I dunno what people are complaining about with the Autarch, I think it ain't that bad. But definately the Fire Dragon Exarch is the badest a$$-iest.

Church: So it is a sword, It just happens to function like a key in very specific situations.
Caboose: Or it's a key all the time, and when you stick it in people, it unlocks their death.
