in a way they could look like jetengines. theses green type of engine bodys will be for vertical uplift so rotors will be pointing upwards. the bigger and sideways looking rotor for forward propulsion will look a bit like:

are you going to put the cabins beneath the blimp as well . or have they gone for good

hmmm i have since yesterday mounted the deck for good on th blimp...now it seems a very important problem to solve how the underside will be used and also since i cant/wont use actual jets to keep it aloft, how to keep it from falling over^^...
so cabins might help stabilizing and making a kind of foot for the whole thing....but to be honest i think it wont do. so since you have seen it often in pics what should i do? i still hav the parts for the cabins. and the tau weaponsponsons as well...which begs kind of to be used^^...

what about making a base in the shape of a shadow of the airship , with plenty of anchors and ladders hanging down to , support it along with a large broom handle , cut down obviously as the structure for it. you could even keep the lower half of the broom , just cut away the bristles. alternatively you could weld it with steel, although i have never welded , then it would be very strong!

My only concern with your design Neil would be that it could get knocked over laterally ie sideways.

I would feel safer with a round or square base myself.

Nice sketch. suggests that you do a fair bit of drawing.

i´ve thought about something similar although i recently bought myself a bit of plexiglas, dont know an english word for it. i have some rods of clear glasslike plastic material. rectangular shaped...these could provide the support.

have you just skethced that picture up? cool...the aft anchor chain could also be used for support if done firm enough...

the last one i had tested personaly and they are utter crap to be frank, i wnated a tripod for my cam and i saw that in the shop and thought: well thats nice and manly looking i should buy that... no sir thank you sir its nonsupportive in every respect. and your first choice would clearly support the victorian fluff....but....but...but i just see myself walking in a FLGS for a friendly game or two and building the airship to its full proportions for a game and then the other peeps looking at my tripod (again i think i use way to much sexual double entendres...) and i cant imagine them saying something like: "whoa waht a cool idea using that as a support for that awful model...i think it would ruin my day in a way...LMAO^^

yeah i thout they were a bit of a stretch, but the last one looks like tesla coils, very steampunk, maybe you could use it for wour weapon or a steampunk titan war of the worlds tripod style, that would look cool! a tripod titan comming at you accross a game table, manned by pretorians! , OOhh i might just do that myself one day...... well if you dont want to that is. although i do have plenty to work on at the moment.

do you know what these gorilla grip tripods costs? my eyes went blurry after i saw the price tags for it...tho i have to give you that it would look tesla like...and as for tripod lokking walkers...hmmm dont know if they would fit in with prxeans, but you never know until you´ve tried...
i have optained some weeks ago an AT-RT walker from starwars and will convert it to a sentinel like walker...steampunky like...

i´ve seen many tripod walkers in steampunk tho due to my research. i can show some up here if you like...tho there not mine and personaly i like the bipod look more, nevertheless its classy to walk with three legs, as in war of the worlds...

at neil, my deepest condolences for going to the dentist...hate doing that...apinfull to endure and painful in payment too...

at chibi, had a look into the range of lead adventures...and i have to say i love the look of the Deep Dive Day...a superb engenieer and the diver is classy as hell...a diver with a fishbowl helmet and a flamethrower, cant get manlier than that i guess...

cool find, and you dont have to pay through your nose to get them... saw lots of steampunkish items a lot more expensive than these. if i ordered this pair i would pay about 10€s and thats not so harsh a price...

have to consider that...

Dentist was painless ,physically and monatary thanks to our FLAWED DIAMOND National Health Serrvice, and although i dont get any money for being unemployed , my health care and the childrens is free... phew ! but thanks for the sympthies lol did some xmas shopping today,picked up a 3 plastic sledges today for the boys, water proof boots for me , some ,perfume for the fiance, handy modeling tools , pin vice guitar wires clippers,fun times ahead! sorry off topic ;-)

back to the snow discussion this thread has taken over:

i reporting from germany of todays snow madness here in my home turff...
today i wanted to opt for quickness and used the bike to bring one child to the kidergarten and later that day i brought two back home with it...that was the plan...

first biking on snow is something not for the faint of heart...or the ones that are afraid when the bikes slinger around quite a bit. guess what type i´m? when it comes to transport i´m a total wussy... i was so afraid that i had to take a part of the ride to push the bike with one kid on top of it through our local park...was a bit of a walk to say the least...
you have to see the amount of snow we have...our snow has thawed and then frozen anew...so now we see lots of snowplates broken and shoveld to the sides of the streets...nice for all involved...pedestrians forgetting what bikestreets are for and happily walking with closed eyes wherever takes them their fancy... where is my baseballbat when i need some? man i hate stubborn people that always rely on the thought that i have to change path...??? why always me? do i look like a serial-to be-kicked- idiot? dont answer that one...argh... *slops some cold hahaha water in face*

now back to airships that soar way above clouds, snowy clouds that is...
i dont know but i seem to lost a bit of enthusiasm the last two days. or rather i´m a bit still at aloss of ideas for the engines... i think i will move to other constructionsites of the airship and maybe there i will make progress...hopefully i can do something on weekend but i highly doubt that...who knows...

maybe i will work on a base for the ship so that i can mount it and thus have a bit of a way to see where this thing will take me...

okay then- what role do you want your zeppelin to have? gunship? transport? mobile objective? airbourne aircraft carrier? scenery/gun platform for your guys to shoot off? bit of everything?

well consider me the biggest noob when it comes to rules...so the later part of your post i didn´t understand...

its mostly going trasport and weaponplatfrom...

and i honestly cant think of respectable praetorians climbing down ropes.tho i for now dont have areal means of getting off the ship...
