I've solved the Toughness problem! maybe
There're new suits! Crisis, broadside, and stealth suits all have toughness 4. So now we add aerial suit to the list! You're already using stealth suit legs, and the necron part adds beef as well.

Here are my votes for fluff:

WS- They're all Shas'vre
T- Aerial Suit (or whatever you're calling it)
I- "through use of their jump packs they are able to crash into a fight at astonishing speeds"
Ld - How about they've received specialized training for the aerial suits that (while giving them sweet jump infantry ability) didn't focus on the drilling that FWs get producing a less disciplined soldier?
Sv - Reduced armor to conserve weight and mobility

Sv_____________4+___________5+________They have to wear more aerodynamic armour giving more manoeuvrability but less protection. Due to the armour being a lighter composite it allows
them to move quicker, blocking more blows (T), but cannot provide the same level of protection against ranged attacks

Finally got my bits through. I've used the necron deathmark heads and cut away the visor part to mount on to the fw bare head!

Tau jump suits are going to look great, but as I keep saying I want to see somebattle suits soon. For a name what about pheonix assualt suits, flying fire warrior to flying fire bird?

Good name, but doesn't really follow the Tau nomenclature (i.e. random alphanumeric or some sort of piscine namesake)

Ok guys, I mangaged to find time to take a side on pic, it's a little high on the contrast settings but hopefully it shows how i've joined the head/visor.

Still needs filling, which i'm ordering some liquid greenstuff for but hopefully it still looks half decent!



So then guys, honest opinions?

No more Tau updates i'm afraid, I got a little side tracked.

I've been busy magnetising some of my Death Company so I can switch between jump packs and back packs. I just woke up on day and figured I hardly ever use them all at the same time so I might as well give myself some more tactical options!

Also, I started another little side project!

Basically I figured with 12-13k of BAs I really don't get the usage out of my collection. So i've decided rather than strip the gacked ones down to repaint as BAs i'm going to strip them down and start a new Chapter!

A chapter i've always liked the look of is the Imperial Fists! And i'm particularly a fan of the Lysander model.

Don't worry all you Blood Angel fans out there, i'm still going to keep the Blood Angels around 10'000pts!

gak that's a lot of points for an army 12-14k, wow. I'm liking the tau model, liquid GS is fun to use flows into the gaps rather easily tho. Lysander is an awesome model, i have one that i have sitting on my desk that i had a friend paint. looking forward for the Fists to make a larger portion of this blog.

I think the proof of concept is great!

My CC: I still think you need to get the jetpack closer to the torso (like we discussed earlier) and make it a bit more integrated looking. Also, with such a non-tau (though super cool looking) visor, I think a regular FW helmet antenna would do a lot to tie it in.

The termie heads are from the Grey Knight termie box. You get loads of spares including lots of lovely power weapons!

Chaos is really my brothers area of expertise but if I ever do go that way (quite possible if the new book is decent) then IW is definitely the way i'd go!

So, not much progress really, the Tau are still very much an active project but I still haven't got any liquid gs!

The Imp Fisties are coming along nicely, i'm going all out with the bases so they're actually taking me about 3 days rather than an hour or two. The theme I have in my head is that they have gone back to the Iron Warriors world (need to look up name) where Lysander was held captive, so there's going to be lots and lots of rubble and battle damage as well as chaosy gubbins lying about!

The whole feel will 'hopefully' be somewhat darker than what I usually produce. The yellow is more of a murky mustardy colour rather than the brighter varients that usually grace our forums!

So I took a quick pic showing a battle-ready Lysander with his trusty squad of veterans.

At this point all i've done is an undercoat of Desert Yellow, then a top-down spray of Daemonic Yellow, then a watered down generous wash of the ever faithful Devlan Mud!



Will hopefully get the bases fully build and pictured in next few days!

The models on the outside of the photograph look less vibrant, is that just the picture or are they at a different stage of painting?

I love the models they look like proper terminators, every one a hero.

Yeah not sure what happened there! My phone doesnt have a flash so it wasnt that! It was late and after a few jars so it was probably just a shadow cast from my big head!

But yes, they're all at the same point as Lysander!
