So can a housecat. So can a road sign. So can a slippery patch of ice. So can anything in the right situation, that doesn't make it likely or common.

In cases where a 40 pound dog is lunging at you, I am pretty sure puncture wounds are likely and common, so go ahead and drop that nonsense right now.

Sure is, dogs are scrappy. A small puncture in the skin is also something that will heal in like two days. Deal with it. Wrap a jacket on your arm or something, it's not a chainsaw.

Puncture wounds are never part of the job. You do not get to tell a cop that they should sacrifice their body because you don't think they should shoot a dog, which is legally a piece of property.

When cops get injured on purpose out of honor or whatever, we call that "above and beyond" because it is literally not part of their job.

We have NO RIGHT to tell them, even as cops, that their personal bodily integrity are less important to us than a dog.

Where's the line for you? Should cops take stab wounds if the knife is real small? It's a job. OSHA still exists. You DO NOT GET to demand that someone be injured on the job when an option to not be injured exists.

What the feth are they doing being cops if they're unwilling to get a bit scratched up to save timmys puppy? Where the hell did the idealism go?

Getting scratched by a puppy is not above and beyond.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

Timmy's puppy that was just snapping at the elderly? That puppy? The one that the court is going to take away and destroy for this? He should take a puncture wound to save an aggressive dog that is lunging at the elderly and himself?

No.

His first priority is to go home with the same number of holes he came to work with. You have NO RIGHT to tell someone that they MUST be injured as part of their job. That is a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT.

We're just going round in circles now.

Not to worry though, I'm sure we can find something else to bicker over incredibly soon !

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
