(especially the rough casting, bubbles can be filled without too much trouble as long as they're on a flatish surface, but rough casts are a real pain to try and smooth out)
and in the main the casts ARE smooth and sharp which makes it even worse
The problem with a lot of the bubbles (about half of them?) is that they're on sharp, bent or detailed edges. The pointy-bottom bits of the Iron Warriors shoulderpads for example. So that's not something that can be fixes with liquid greenstuff. It needs proper putty, curing, then cutting and filing. Just to fix a simple fething shoulder pad.

If you look back a couple pages in this thread (page 7), you'll see where I detailed my order - I was ordering whirlwind turrets, but they seem to use a lot of the same parts as your order - and they had the exact same miscasts. Sorry to hear it, and hope it gets resolved. My only advice is stay on their customer service - I posted here as well in order to get a response, they said they'd send them out immediately...3 weeks later no word, I check with them, and they send them out 2 days later - my guess is they forgot/hoped I would forget.
I wonder if you'll get the same story about "oh we're sorry your order came from the miscast pile" as I did.
Yeah, I saw your thread, and it frankly filled me with terror for my own order that hadn't yet arrived. I've already opened an initial dispute with PayPal, as my buyer protection would have run out. I'm going to contact them for advice on the next step - which is that my stuff arrived eventually but is in a godawful state. The Dragonfly clearly came from the pile of gak pile, along with much of the rest of it.
I just had an order come from Kromlech (which I need to photograph and review here) and another order due from Anvil any day now. Never had anything but perfection from either of them.

So, i actually had great experience buying from them. I am not trying to stir the pot, just reading a lot of let downs. That is a major bummer and I feel for you cause i have had the same thing happen when buying from ebay.
My Order cam in about 3 weeks. I bought a couple sets of both the Night Lord should pads and the Emperor Children\Word Bearers Shoulder pads. The one with the Skull towards the front of the pad and the wing behind it.
All casts came out great. there was some very thin extra feathering inbetween them. Super easy to fix. They also threw in a quite a few extra pads. I thought cause some would be a bit tough to fix.. But really nothing was wrong. The only thin i have doen was carve out the inside to have them fit better to rad poses i am giving some of my guys.
I dont know.. Just wanted to give them some props and let people know i had a really good experience. I am definitely going to order more when i have painted what i have now.

I hope I can offer a ray of hope for some..
I too had some issues with their not Space Marine bikes, casting was fine, but missing handlebars for all of them.
It took several emails, the threat of claiming through PayPal and about two months to get it sorted but there were always responses to my messages, and when they eventually did send my missing stuff, I also received a ton of extra stuff too for free.
I don't think there is any malice involved, I sincerely believe they want happy customers, they're just a bit inept at resolving issues.
For any with problems, hang in there, remain polite but persistent and things should work out.

This is exactly what I want them to do. Anvil already produce stuff for other companies, well, Icesword at least, and they have easily the best casting methods I have ever seen. (I swear someone's job is to scrape off the mold lines before they are sent!) Simply ship off the designs to someone more reliable, see how easily they can get them cast up and then make that the norm. Sure they might loose some money to the person doing the casting but should they do that, I would actually buy the stuff, rather than being too scared too! Plus it would greatly improve shipping times should they contract it out to a company closer to the majority of the buyers. Win win in my opinion.

I feel like this is Puppetwars "Finecast."
GW switched to Finecast: gak production for months and lots of complaints.
I feel like PW is switching casting methods and is still working out all of the bugs, the only problem is that they are sending out the poor products to people who paid good money for good products.

I actually have a question, want to pick your brains...
I was lucky enough to recently win the PW contest, as a result I am receiving 2 Dragonflys, and an Ursas tractor. Now, these are prizes, and im not paying anything for them, but what would you recommend I do if what I receive faulty goods?
The Dragonfly I have atm was nearly perfect, certainly within 'finecast' levels of acceptability, and I have never had a problem with any other orders, but its just a bit of healthy paranoia on my part. But yeah, what would you do? Ask for replacements/give them a bit more leeway than a 'purchased' order?

I would sincerely HOPE that they would QC the crap outta the models they are going to send to their own contest winners!!!!
(they should be QC'ing the crap out of every order they send out, but that is understood... or is it?)
Just because you got it for 'free' is no excuse for being sent crap.
If they send you faulty casts I would asks for replacements just like any other customer.

I would email them now - upfront and ask "what should I do if some of the parts are miscast?" Then go with that. Of course. I do too. I may be pissed off with them right now, but I wouldn't have made the initial order to a company I wanted to fail. If anything, I'm wanting to shame them if that's what it takes (apparently) into lifting their game but I certainly don't want to see them go down the gurgler.

I have to say I have been reasonably lucky with my orders compared to you guys although I haven't ordered in a while, But I have had the slight mould slip and miscast sure but not to these extents.
I did mention my self a better quality resin and casting process would be a good investment, as I had noticed issues were becoming more apparent with each order.
The thing is this seems out of control now and from the feedback and pics I have to say I am concerned about placing an order, I have been building a list of to buy items but now I think I will past until I hear or see some improvement.
I am sorry to say this as they have some great stuff that I really want to invest in, however at this time I cant see me taking the chance on receiving poor quality casts.
Please guys take note and address this issue, don't fail due to bad castings you have great products that deserve the same respect in the casting process.

I would recommend waiting until you actually receive them before worrying about whether or not they are miscast...

To update my situation, I just got my replacements in:
-It appears they sent it priority this time, and it came fast. This is probably due to me reminding them about the situation 3 weeks after it began and them then mailing them out. My guess is they completely forgot to send them after they initially said they would, which sucks as it took a month to get replacements, but on the other hand they shipped priority once they realized, so kudos on that.
-All items were replaced from my original order, which was all either miscast and plenty of pieces were just missing. No extra freebies thrown in, which I was secretly hoping for, but of course not required
-Replacements still had some issues, one turret piece had some mold slippage/misalignment, and there were still some bubble holes (I can take pics tonight if folks are interested). All in all these are much much better than the original batch, but still have some issues (though not many). Overall I'm satisfied with the second set, as it's too much of a hassle to try again, and these I can fix/work with. If I'd of received these the first time I likely wouldn't have complained, I just wouldn't have been ecstatic.
Overall, I'm satisfied that they fixed the issues I had with my order, not overly happy that from initial order to completion of order (my first order was entirely miscast "from the discard pile" and missing pieces) took over 2 months, and some pieces are still mediocre quality. My final verdict is I won't be buying from puppetswar again - they have amazing sculpts and concepts, but my personal experience has been the reality of what gets delivered doesn't match with what you thought you were getting - none of this is meant as a slam of them, just an honest review of my experience.

I'm still trying to find the shoulder pads that are shown on all of those models. The smooth sic-fi ones on the left are great, the layered samurai ones in the middle I really must have and I have seen the ones on the right before. I'd like to see something with chain mail underneath the shoulder pad proper and some kind of fur pelt to drape over the tops. Either way I'm ordering a set of the armor with or without cool shoulder pads early next week. I don't suppose Puppets War will be on hand at Adepticon with kits for sale by chance?
