What does everyone have against the ending? That

Spoiler:
Booker dies? Because he doesn't. After the credits he's alive and reunited with Anna.

I can't speak for everyone. For my own part, I thought the game was doing an interesting job dealing with realistic, difficult social issues. But then it just kind of gave up in favor of melodrama contingent upon branching timelines.

on the forum. Obviously

The problem is that as the time line has been rewritten, everything that has happened in the game doesn't matter. Meaning that Booker is still a drunken merc who would sell his daughter to get out of his debts.

It should have stuck with the concepts of American Determinism gone wrong and the nature of revolt. It didn't need all that quantum nonsense.

Actually, I'd agree with that a bit but not to the point where it ruined the game for me.

No Comstock is dead. Columbia will never exist. Stuff happens. As for Booker ya, they're pretty up front that he was the one of the most brutal soldiers at the wounded knee massacre and would sell his own daughter to pay off gambling debts. He's that guy. Can't say I liked him that much.

On the other hand, perhaps he retains his memories about everything that happened, as he did every time he changed timelines, and become a much better person. Which is still relative, of course, because obviously Annah grows to be a pretty vindicative young gal.

Spoiler:
No, we don't know what Anna will grow up to be but most likely she will grow up to be a normal person. Elizabeth, like Columbia, will never exist. Elizabeth sacrificed herself to stop Comstock. They are the only two to "die" though Booker and Anna live.

Good point about him possibly retaining memories of the whole adventure, not sure but I think that has something to do with Elizabeth's presence again.

Spoiler:
Except that is wrong. The after epilogue takes place in 1893 ie. 19 years BEFORE the incidents in the game.

People would dislike because of 1 of 3 reasons.

It creates a series of plot holes
It doesnt explain what happens afterwards, it just ends.
People dont like it when they kill the main character off.

Yes, exactly. The events are prevented. Check out that link I posted.

Ai, but since the events are prevented, everything that you went through in the game never happened. Including Booker's realization that he's a prick. Meaning that he will most like make the same mistake of selling his daughter again. This is why I don't like paradoxes :/

Yes, but he won't make the mistake of selling his daughter again because the only person who would buy her is the extra douchey version of himself: Comstock. Who will never exist.

Also, as the Luteces put it: at least he had the decency to try to reneg on the deal at the last second.
