so i had my copy show up earlier today, and i have to agree with the others just how nice it turned out, i also really like how well everything fits in the trays/boxes/back in the main box, since i sometimes find arranging storage space to be tricky at times.

also, i feel i'm going to be a long time painting the tray of of handweapon bull demons (didn't see that tray in the above pics)

Yeah, I didn't post it. Sorry!

Just received my copy of Journey and... wow.

I'm blown away by the quality of these miniatures: I backed several 'miniature games' that had great concept art, and those games, which ostensibly were about the models, were nowhere near as high quality as the miniatures in this thing.

Unfortunately I won't have time to really go through my box for like a week, but I'll definitely be putting up some pictures when I do.

The only complaint I can muster right now is the yin-yang spinner spins, but always lands in the same place. Not sure how to fix that...

Mine came today as well.

Minis are nice. Pieces look nice. Going to have to figure out somewhere to put all the cards. I wish they had some sort of tray for them.

My spinner isn't as bad as others say. With a little fiddling around, it'll actually spin the way it's supposed to.

Looking forward to Peng the Pandaman. Hope he's as large as some of the other figures.

Hopefully I can try out the actual game this weekend, but I also just got Rum & Bones, and I'm not sure if there'll be time for both.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Having played both of the intro Quests 1 & 2, I feel I can comment on the game:

1. I backed for the gorgeous minis, and was not disappointed. The minis are impressively large and well-detailed, even as bendy PVC. This is probably the best use of the material I've seen. Far better than Bones, for example.

2. The game itself plays quite well, very clean and straightforward, not a lot of unnecessary complexity - dramatically cleaner than Super Dungeon Explore 2.0 "Arcade" mode. Whomever designed this ruleset clearly understands that less is more, with only a few kinds of terrain and status effects, so that the complex items stand out as areas the designer intends more attention to be paid.

3. The Scenarios are a teaching tool, with the mechanics split into 2 separate scenarios followed by an integrating scenario. This is *exactly* how intro scenarios are *supposed* to be created, unlike Zombicide, which just has these random, difficult things right off the bat.

4. There is clearly more "stuff" than required - they probably could have cut at least 1 tile, maybe 2, from the game, but chose not to. Probably more basic Demons, too. But the game components themselves, the cards, show similar effort to streamline to only a few meaningful and themed variants.

5. Overall, there is a thoughtfulness in the whole package. Everything is designed and beautiful and curated. It's clear that Ray and Hon put a lot of love into Journey, and I hope they win "Game of the Year" or something.

If you haven't played Journey, I heartily recommend you try it.

Oh yeah, I agree the cards should have some kind of sorter / organizer. Especially for between game storage. Also, I would have been fine (happier) with a Yin/Yang coin.

My biggest issues with the game, having run the intros, and without echoing John's comments...

-storage. There's nowhere to put the cards upon unwrapping them! Just about everything else has a place designated for it. A small oversight.

-the health trackers. They're too tiny!

Other than that I absolutely agree that it is very smooth and streamlined. A lot of thought was put in to this game. I may have failed on backing the KS, but I am very happy I ended up preordering it.

Now the wait for the other materials begins....

Out of curiosity, did you try playing it and not particularly like it or just move along with your interest? I'm starting to list a lot of the KS's hanging out in the back of my closet that I know I'll never get around to painting or playing with.

Played it a bit, it was well-executed but for whatever reason didn't grab me.

Still trying to wrap my head around it, but I didn't find it bad, just I guess not my taste, I guess? Normally I get upset with an element of a game I think was done poorly that ends up ruining it for me, but IDK, guess I'd rather have some cash/expand another collection than another fancy board game. Maybe just KS exhaustion.

That makes perfect sense. We all have our games that we don't hate and are well received, but just sit on the shelf. Zombicide is mine. Glad to hear that you didn't find anything wrong with the game, just didn't grab you. I'll hopefully finally get a chance to take it off the shelf and play it sometime in the next week.

Makes sense to me. We've yet to get it on the table, but I can see how, at some point, all "dungeon crawlers" feel samey.

I'm hoping KD won't feel that way because of the uniqueness of the system, but who knows.

Yep, Cincy, fingers crossed that KD is even relatively close to the hype it has.

Also, my review of Journey: review article.

Interesting Update today, but it looks like Marrow is "done" with Wave 1, and now refocusing on Wave 2 to come out whenever it does. Kinda sad to hear that the guys are still working on a shoestring and can't quit their day jobs.

OTOH, having Journey core box at retail might help them a bit.

Wow, it is been silent for a long time, but we finally get an Update on Wave 2!

Wave 2 will include some small packs and one full expansion:
• Jiangshi Boxed Set
• Plastic Bridges Boxed Set
• Bone Demon Expansion

There is a small chance that the Yau Demons might make it into Wave 2, but it is not on the list at the moment. We do not want to miss more deadlines, so we are not giving you a date, but to set expectations, you will not receive Wave 2 before Q4 2016.

Glad to hear that they're working on it, and a little disappointed that it's not going to include *everything*. I just hope to receive something this year, rather than waiting to 2017...

And another update for Wave 2, with the box artwork for the Jiangshi and Bridges. I'd like to get my hopping ghosts!

I'd like to get all the stuff missing from my wave 1....

I bought one of everything. So far I've only recieved the base game which I have since sold. I figure the rest of the items will end up like the dust tactics or robotech rpg kickstarters...

We got the base game, the ghosts and the expansions. If they trickle out, we'll be OK with it. Although it's a LOT slower than I would ever have hoped.

Kinda light on details, tho... :(

At a guess they seriously under estimated how much this would cost and the money is gone now. They'll have to look for more shipping money at the very least whatever about the rest. It's also telling that there have been no pictures of the expansion sculpts or most of the post wave 1 stuff bar a few miniatures.

I've chalked this one up to part delivery unlikely to see anymore. I wasn't in for that much so it's no great loss. I might be willing to chip in a bit more for shipping but that's it and I'd want to see finished product first.

(Technically I still haven't had an outright failure or even part failure on KS but 2 or 3 projects are close to it)

I'm rather pissed off when I remember that this KS was a thing that sort of exists. I went pretty much all-in, but also purchased a bunch of extras from the initial boxes, which they could have fulfilled (since they were manufactured) but didn't.

I'm assuming from their behaviour from the past couple of years that it's a write-off at this point...

Yeah, I want my extra dice, so at least the base game can be played without feeling like a pauper when I have to share dice.

Of course, I also want my expansions.

This and RRT have kinda soured me on KSing expansions on top of the base game. At least the base game usually delivers, where expansions are slow and iffy.

What exactly was the reason they gave why some of us only recieved the base game and nothing else as wave 1?

We got our update, and they admit they're undercapitalized for what they need to deliver, based on a few hiccups in Wave 1.

Color me not surprised. At all.

But they're going to attempt to do something, to get the hopping ghosts & bridges out, so there's that.

I'm not sure I believe this. Are they saying that not only could they no longer afford postage, but ran short of everything and can't afford more production, which for some reason they didn't order enough of in the first run?
So now if I pay postage I'll get the stuff you couldn't include in my wave 1 for reasons?

I received my Wave 1 core box on 8/8/2015, so that's more like 18 months than 3 years.

Unfortunately, I backed a lot, so I'm still waiting on my expansions and bonus items. :(
