BackerKit rolling out soon

We're beavering away here at Battle Systems Towers (the home of BS and everything is bang on schedule. We've been working on the new re-tools (making the accurate even more accurate) and designing the new stuff.

To make sure we stay on schedule we need you, the backers, to fill out the BackerKit pledge manager before 1st February 2014. We will be rolling out the BackerKit in a few days so expect an invite in your email.

BackerKit is very easy to useBackerKit is very easy to use

You'll be able to login, update your address details and choose your add-ons. Those who've paid up fully will find that they have 'credit' to spend on add-ons. Choose wisely Late backers (those who jumped in after the KS or pledged for the £1 reward tier) will be in 'debit' ie they'll need to add funds. It all makes sense when you see it.

You'll be able to login and and out as much as you want up to the manufacturing stage. We will be 'locking down' the BackerKit on February 1st 2014 when we'll be giving our manufacturers their final orders. In order to get the stretch goals you will have to jump in and pay in full, before this date of 1st Feb 2014. Those who pledged during the KS are already guaranteed their stretch goals of course. Well done you

After the BackerKit is locked on the 1st Feb it may open again later in the year if we have stock to offer or/and new items. This means we may be able to offer the Stronghold set again if you require another set or could not jump in before the 1st Feb. However as noted above there will be no Stretch goals or free items as listed on the KS. These will be basic sets, but still be totally awesome. ;o)

A note on postage: please double check your postage is paid up. This will save a lot of time for us. Also, the late backers need to make sure they purchase either an Outpost, Station, Stronghold or Hulk, not just add-ons. This is purely so we don't get screwed into the ground paying for postage!

A note on BackerKit: please note that the reward levels differ slightly as the UK postage is included in the price. The international postage (Rest of World) has the UK postage subtracted. The final cost to you is the same.

For example, the Stronghold Sweet Spot pledge is £70 on Kickstarter with £8 shipping to the UK and £16 to RoW. On BackerKit it is £78 for the UK and £8 shipping RoW. On reflection we should have included the UK postage from the start but this was our first Kickstarter and the learning curve is steep! Again, it all makes sense when you see it.

Here's a handy INFORMATION ONLY page you can look at if you don't want to keep looking at the KS page:

http://www.battlesystems.co.uk/bskickstarter.html

Information only page that details pledge levels and add-onsInformation only page that details pledge levels and add-ons

Finally, a few people have pre-arranged to pay via PayPal. The BackerKit won't be much use to you so you will need to contact us directly so we can add you in manually. Just choose what you want and we will invoice you. Please, no more PayPal requests, it's truly a pain in the bum!

Enjoy Christmas (if you celebrate it) and know that we're busy slaving away and ignoring our families for you, our beloved backers

Wayne and Colin.

P.S. Final terrible joke of the year:

Darth Vader: Luke, I know what you've got for Christmas.

Luke: How?!

Darth: I felt your presents....

It's all good, I was in the middle of a move anyway, would have sucked to lose stuff in transit. Hopefully they'll bribe my good graces with *even more* deadzone goodies. Though... I'm not sure at this point what I could possibly use more of!

Time to start pinching pennies so I can afford the bunker walls

Update #40

Dec 28, 2013
Mini Update ... First invites to BackerKit...

Ho Ho Ho...

Just like Santa we are checking our list twice... unlike Santa we are then checking our list many more times. Our list is on BackerKit and we want to get it just right.

So here is the plan.

Due to the festive season the support desk at BackerKit will be low on staff. So... we are going to send out the links to the BackerKit to just a few backers tomorrow. Then if there are no issues we will start inviting the rest. By the close of the day on the 1st Jan 2014 we will have sent out all the invites so you can jump in and make your selections. )

1. We send you an email with a link to BackerKit

2. You click the link and open BackerKit

3. You will see that your pledge is confirmed at the level you chose

4. If you added additional funds for 'Add-ons' this will show as a credit, (money you can allocate to the Add-ons'). Just select the Add-ons you chose until your credit is used up. (your account will show as £0.00 left to spend)

5. If you want to add more than your original amount you pledged on the KS then just select more Add-ons and when you confirm you will be directed to pay for your additional items.

6. That's it, you have until 1st Feb 2014 to do all this. )

Pre-Arranged Pay-Pal Backers.

If you are one of the Backers who have 'pre-arranged' with us to pay by PayPal then you will still be invited to BackerKit. Just follow the Link to BackerKit, but make a list of all the items you want (or alternatively look at the information only list at http://www.battlesystems.co.uk/bskickstarter.html )

Send your list to us at our main business email info@battlesystems.co.uk (do not use the KS email/message service) We will then send you a PayPal invoice for the amount and once you have paid we will update your backer kit for you.

Please take your time to select everything you want before sending us the list as we will only be able to send you one invoice. You can only pay by PayPal if you were one of the few backers who were talking to us about paying this way while the KS was running. Taking PayPal payments has to be done manually by us and takes time and cost us additional fees ;o)

That's about it. Next update (unless we have further BackerKit notices) will be about the White Copies and manufacturing update. So here is a sneak peak of a Cargo crate.
Close up.

Close up.

Over and out for now...

Colin & Wayne
This is very good. It all seems to being moving along nicely.

Although for me the worst has happened. I've got money to spend on add-ons now.
All my lovely money, spent on tiny cardboard bunkbeds and med stations. And maybe a docking bay. Oh and an extra turbine or two. Because 1 just isn't enough. And... and... and... eh feth it. I'll get one of everything now.

Hahah Snrub, but think of the ability to rub it in your mates faces. Such full featured terrain... it will be glorious!

Yeah SavageRobby, at least you'll be able to pick it up at retail. You'll miss out on a little value but avoiding the kickstarter risk is an upside. Early runs are more likely to have problerm etc. Until then - haha we spent way too much on cardboard nyer! ; p

edit: if anyone finds a good set of textas that will work well for colouring in the edges of this stuff (decent range of greys and colours to match the printed stuff) please give us a yell. I'll try to have a look, but I have nfi what to look for yet really.

I may end up having to wait to get my bunker kit till retail, feb 1st is going to cut it pretty close to me having/not having money. Oh well, the interior is still really nice.

I was thinking Sharpie "paint pens", Yonan. They've done wonders for me on other projects. Just black, but it's as if you, well, painted it

It looks as if I can still get in. :-)

For coloring the edges, look at PrismaColor markers. They are pricey, but they gave some greys that are perfect for coloring the edges of cardstock/board. I've made a ton if WorldWorksGames terrain, and used those markers for years to edge the terrain. The Cool Grey 60% is my go-to marker.

FYI, if you're like me and missed backing this project for some inexplicable reason, this is from their recent facebook post:

"If anyone missed the KickStarter and wants to get in on the action there is a small window before we manufacture where we can add you to our Pledge Manager. If you are interested just email us direct on info@battlesystems.co.uk"

Just got my Backer kit invite and completed it. Very easy to use just 3 pages it's prepopulated with your pledge level and then any funds pledged over that are available as credit to use for add ons on the second page all the add ons are listed in order with pictures. You can go beyond your credit and pay for extras using a credit card which will not be charged until Feb 1st (there is no Paypal option) even if you lock in now you can add more at any stage up to Feb 1st. 1 of the better pledge managers I've used they kept it simple and to the point.

Same for if you're just joining for the first time- no Paypal option, but then there wasn't for Kickstarter either so that's no different.

Woot! Invite to the BackerKit!

Question: looking at the Stronghold vs. Hulk, it seems like the Stronghold is a much better deal, but they are the same price. If I'm reading it right, the Hulk has a few more floors (handy!), struts, buttresses and chairs, but the Stronghold has far more clips (can't have enough, Terraclips taught me), stairs and massively more railings.

Also, anyone have an idea how many Bunker sets it would take to enclose the bulk of a Stronghold set?

Gah. I'm going to way overspend on this.

Made in ie
Fixture of Dakka

Hulk is single level only so no stairs, railings or anything else that is required for multiple levels that also means it requires fewer clips to hold it together but you should get more than enough either way the offset is that you get more floor tiles and a few more walls they work out fairly similar it just depends if you want everything on one level or multi level. I opted for Stronghold plus an extra 9 tile floor pack (£26) to do pretty much the same job as Hulk but still have multi level options.

One £40 Bunker set should enclose 1 Stronghold when set up in a 3 tile x3 tile square.

Cool - thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go with 1x Stronghold and 1x Hulk, plus Bunkers, plus a bunch of the various Add-Ons.

I'm so psyched about this one. I love WWG's Terraclips, and this looks really similar, but for SciFi - and maybe even better quality. Also, I was looking at a bunch of resin or MDF crates/widgets, but this will fill that need nicely. And without the need to paint!

Trying to decide what to get now. I put down enough for stronghold and a decent haul of extras. Not enough for a second stronghold, but several at any rate. Then they deployed the bunker wall covers and things got complicated. I'm stuck between not getting the bunkers, or not getting nearly as many add-ons as I would like. I'd really like some extra clean/infected walls too, sheesh. They definitely get points for making an desirable product =/

So the first page of the back kit told me I have 8 pounds in credit, but when I get to the buy add-ons page it says I have no credit.

Anyone know what's up with that?

Shipping probably on the first page you state your country so it knows what shipping to apply in the Backerkit they added £8 to the base cost to account for UK shipping but then international orders get charged another £8 to collect the full £16 due.

Bummer, they didn't apply the 1 pound pledge to the pledge value, despite saying they would... If you pledged 86 pounds for a hulk at that level, as I did, you're a pound short in the backer kit...

Not a huge deal but means I can't submit my pledge manager yet, or worst case I'll have to give a credit card that can be charged in pounds to pay the remaining pound. Hoping they fix it instead since I did ask about it during the campaign and they answered...

So how crazy did people get with buying add-ons?

I managed to contain myself to one each of add-on 6, 7, 10, 12 and 13.

$44 total. Not as bad as I was expecting.

I ended up getting an additional 44GBP worth of add-ons, in addition to the 20 I budgeted initially. I'm hoping that was enough...

Now showing skeletons for Mantic's Dungeon Saga!

Painting total as of 12 July 2025: 88 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants
