Honestly, I probably will either bring a Vindicare or melt him with my Imperial Knight, one shot from that thermal cannon and he is toast.
You mean a 50% chance of toast
a Vindicare wont help much considering he hits on a 6 only still.
That is why I am leaning towards the Imperial Knight more. It depends if people actually decide to take an assassin, it is still a relatively fragile model but I still figure that a large blast template weapon will hit more than any direct fire will. Thankfully they can only ever take one and it will probably be a lot of points. I haven't seen the points cost for any of the assassins yet.

Good job assasins are not unique, and you can have many detachments of them, one assassin at a time....
Speaking of shooting him dead, Where in the BRB does it state powers are measured from the hull? i recall people doing it with the DA Tech with power fields post 6th faq but dont recall where in the book it is. would love to shove him in a Land raider or something suitably tanky to protect
At office, but look under embarked units - the line around measuring to / from the hull is still in there.

Well the Culexus is a psyker itself right? Chuck Psyk-out grenades at it.
Though could you? it says shots are resolved at BS1 against it, but does not say you have to Snap Shot at him, which would prevent blast weapons.

Nope not a psyker. you are correct they are not snaps. The best way to kill em is just to weight of fire or blast/flame them to death. which is why im suggesting perhaps shoving him into a vehicle might be a good idea.

Nope, the Culexus is a psychic null. He basically appears as a giant blank void to psykers & inevitably to daemons as well.
Not sure if it's still in the newest background, but it's been heavily hinted at that those individuals who are chosen to become a Culexus are human carriers of the Necron Pariah gene, "gifted" to mankind by the Deceiver.

plentiful blasts are better than high strength. Sure he can ID him, but he can dodge. Better to just drown him in weight of numbers attacks. TFCs and such.
Or hey, what about actually using Frag missiles for a change? (nah still probably not worth it)

Best way to do it is Flame templates. Blasts can still scatter and 1" isn't going to make much difference. A small blast only needs to scatter 2" to miss completely and a large blast only needs 3" to miss.

flame templates need to be within 8" or so. small blasts(and other blasts) still hit 1/3 of the time, I guess that isnt much better than a snapshot.

No, its not. But there are plenty of things that can be a threat. Fire Dragons, Burnas, Combi-Flamer Sternguard, ShuntKnights with Incinerator and Psilincer, Hellhound Tanks, Heldrakes, Sisters entire army, Inquisitorial Warrior Acolytes with Flamers, other Culexus Assassins, Thunderwolf Cavalry and Dakkabanner Dark Angels should all have enough Templates, shots or attacks to counter it, and a Culexus of your own should help, as it evens the playing field and leaves you free to fight the rest of the army.

Is he immune to psychic effects? Couldn't you power up a psilencer? 6 ID shots plus the stormbolters in the squad. Something bound to get him.

Straight immune to psychic powers. but i dont think he is immune to psychic effects actually.
Sit out of 12" and fire the gak of a psilencer, you could ID him (though assuming you cast, hit, wound and burn through his 4++)

Yeah, a Psilincer fired at a Culexus has does about 0.25 wounds overall. That doesn't include the psychic test needed for Force.

This was classic fluff especially when the Necrons actually had the Pariah unit in their codex as a way to subvert the human race to their cause but it hasn't been mentioned since the 5th edition codex when they removed the Pariah unit. I haven't read the new Culexus fluff yet if it will hint to this or not but the psychic blanks are still referred to as Pariahs and it is still called the Pariah gene. Also, in the The Emperor's Gift it's hinted to that the Grey Knights have a method of making someone a psychic blank even if they were a psyker before but it is not revealed how or why it is done. I am interested if the Culexus entry will expand on this.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I think the Culexus won't be too difficult to deal with but it would definitely be foolish to ignore them should your opponent decide to bring one especially for us GK players. With people talking about throwing them in a vehicle and such furthers my point that my Imperial Knight with the Str 9 AP 1 Thermal Cannon is the thing to take out a Culexus should one appear. I thought pitting a DK against one and having the Incinerator plus the new Heavy Psycannon to go after one but I am worried about whether the DK will be able to take it out before the Culexus gets it into CC. I have other things that could take care of Culexus like Fire Dragons but I don't want to waste turns sending my specific anti-vehicle unit after them. I mean technically the same can be said with the Imperial Knight but I could be shooting the Thermal Cannon at it while still closing in on vehicles to CC with the giant chain sword of death.

Get rid of him the same way that Pink Horrors get rid of annoying flyers: Prescience + boatloads of shots. Anything re-rolled is dangerous. Get a pair of Psilencers + Storm bolters from a unit, slap Prescience on them and enjoy.
