A) Seriously it's spelt Ableism. Either you can't spell, or you've already decided the term is unimportant so you can misspell it because it doesn't matter, I'll leave the decision up to you, but please try and spell it correctly, you look like a buffoon.
"Seriously, (COMMA) it's SPELLED (the correct way to pretty much everyone NOT in the UK).....[run on sentence that's barely intelligible] you look like a buffoon"
Don't be a condescending douchenozzle about spelling and syntax if you can't get it right yourself.
Except a) I am in the UK, so SPELT is perfectly acceptable. British English and all that.
B) he's having a debate about the usefulness of a word whilst purposely misspelling that word. It's irritating. If he had misspelt a single word and I'd gone ' lol haha it's actually colour not color' then maybe you'd have a point, but every single time he has used that word in this thread he has misspelt it, so me pointing out that he's misspelling the word at the centre of the debate isn't being condescending, it's common sense.
Side note: I was only being 'a condescending douchenozzle' about spelling, not spelling and syntax.

You can't say that other people are being grammar nazis and then use your own post to get bingo! That's cheating!

Just because you don't use/need a term doesn't mean that it's useless, it just means that you don't use it.
Seems pretty accurate to me. I'd add that the way each of us looks at the world and is looked at by the world is contingent upon things like gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. Uncritically assuming that your experience is not contingent can lead to boorish behavior or even systematic prejudice. Terms like mansplaining, ableism, and cisgender offer insight into what the world looks like from other people's point of view. Trying to see the world from a different perspective will probably result in a better world, starting from more sensitive and thoughtful behavior at the personal level (like catching oneself when one starts to mansplain something).

I'm fine with people disagreeing with me on Dakka; I'm here to discuss things (it is a message board after all). I'm not going to shut down a discussion because someone disagrees with me and I never have.
edited coz my comment was applicable 2 pages back

god I hate it when I have far too many tabs open at once, read and respond to a comment then realise it was several pages back and the thread has moved on.

No, there actually was a debate on some HP forum about whether muggle was derogatory.
