I wonder if the "new death guard" and "bigger marines" are starter set only miniatures, like most of the chaos marines from dark vengence, or the ork death koptas and warboss, or crashed aquila, or....
It could be just me, but I'm pretty sure the ultramarines on the landing pad are flying/hovering. They look like they might even have small flight stands!?!?!

As an added bonus, it all but confirms Nurgle in AoS as well, so here's hoping I can flog my WM/H stuff in time
Er, what?
How does Death Guard confirm Nurgle in AoS? We didn't see a Great Unclean One or Beasts of Nurgle or anything that is "shared".
We saw 40k stuff.
I mean, it would be surprising to not see those but this is kind of grasping at straws right off the bat.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a new Typhus though.
So far we have:
Trust we'll be getting Typhus alongside Mortarion. Same with Lucious and Fulgrim. The only reason Angron's gonna be lonely is cause Khârn came out with
-Mortarian(the scythe appears a bit too big to be Typhus, unless he gets supersized--you can see a bit of base in the background to give a sense of scale)
-Plague Marines in Power Armour
-Plague Zombies
-Plague Terminators
That puts us, compared to the release for the Thousand Sons(Magnus, Rubricae, Exalted Sorcerers, Rubric Marines, Ahriman, Tzaangors) 2 release slots less.
I would expect to see a kind of "hero" boxed kit(and I actually think that a couple of the Plague Marines might be that; the guy with the butcher's apron on and the guy clutching the three shrunken heads on a chain have a kind of hero vibe to them...) where instead of the Disc mounted character there's a Terminator one and Typhus to round things out, release-wise.
Trust we'll be getting Typhus alongside Mortarion, same with Lucius and Fulgrim the only reason Angron's gonna be lonely is cause Khârn came out with Traitor's Hate. All Primarchs and their lutents not confirmed dead in the current cannon time line are getting a model. To be frank we could see some supposedly dead ones too. The Inquisition and Assasinorum never did get a kill confirmed on Curze. I think Rogal Dorn's remains where intured in a dreadnought. A primarch dreadnaught would be freak'n hilarious.
If it does not bleed, I have no use for it. Death to the False One, freedom to the Galaxy.
Might as well cross-post this here (credit goes to Omega-soul in the 8th Ed. thread). What is undoubtedly new Death Guard stuff promo'd in the 8th Ed. release teaser stuff:
DG vs. UM starter pack? That is something I can handle very well
s
Looks like it to me, shame that image isn't higher res as i'd love to get a better look at this stuff. Hopefully we get a better reveal for the DG in the coming weeks. If this pans out well I might make an actual attempt to get into 40k and learn to play it. After all these years i've always wanted to collect plastic 40k nurgle stuff. Their fantasy counterpart got a lot of love but the DG never did.
Is anyone else "assuming" as I am that the next wave of books (likely after 8th drops) will be the next series of the actual 'Storm' itself and will likely feature Triumvirate style boxes for baddies.
I've always assumed this was the route they'd go. With the new map showing a huge crazy rift (I'm guessing that's a bit of a spoiler for the next series of campaign/storyline books) I'd imagine that's the actual storm itself which was previously gathering.
Yeah, I believe I have been working under the same assumption - specifically that there will be a triumvirate box with a new Abaddon. Maybe there will also be a new Typhus in the same box? Let's hope so!
It would make sense if they were - no real point in keeping daemons out of both games (if you can sell to both players). Are blight drones just plaguebearers flying on stuff?

I don't see anything big enough to be a cute Plague Hulk?

It looks like it, and the contents list I saw has two drones in the starter, but I look at that picture and people's CSI levels of enhance and I'm not sure.
Though apparently some of the stuff in the Death Guard video is the stuff from the starter set. In less than a month we'll all know for sure as they will be going through the new starter and edition with the managers at the big meeting in Nottingham on the 22nd of May.

Too small and looks like it is flying.

Oh it's so good to see that pic again. Did they remove this and the painting pic from the site yeah? Went into my GW last week to pick up the KOBT and one of the fellas was surprised when I said you could see the new models in the pics but we couldn't find them when we looked.
It looks a bit too small to be Mortarion. Then again I am assuming since he's a Daemon Primarch then his size will be similar to Magnus?
Then again, again.....I am guessing if these are now true-scale marines then does this mean all future Chaos Marines will too be true-scale? So perhaps Mortarion will only look a bit bigger like the dude in the pic and he does seem to have fly wings.
I assumed it was a new Plague Sorcerer as it kinda looks like a staff and Mortarion going by the leaked photo should have his scythe pointing downwards rather than pointing in front.
Check the size of those cultists at the bottom though, the size difference between them and the marines on the right is already noticeable.
I think that weapon looks comically stupid unless it's intentionally used for removing plumbing piping which has gone bad?
That being said the video cements the idea for me that Death Guard will be the starter box foe of the (yawn) Ultramarines. I think that's a pretty safe bet. If not in the starter box (if there even IS a starter box) it'll be "the" bad guy for the first month or two at least.
EDIT: With no templates, no special dice, no big rulebook etc...you don't need so much of a starter box as you do a small box w/ two opposing forces. I wonder what the status of the "starter box" will actually be for 8th. Do they even bother with one? Or give customers the rules for free and point out two opposing "Start Collecting" boxes?

It's 40k, chainswords and magic space knights and everything else about the setting are comically stupid. Might as well have a buzzsaw weapon that easily catches and severs arms. It fits in 40k's "Coolest Saturday Morning Cartoon EVER" aesthetic. I'm already buying the new DG, this just makes me a little more excited.

Have you seen the 30k Death Guard? They have scythes that would not work as scythes. They're pretty much fancy axes.
