So, have you started building yet? I'd be intrested to see how yours will stack up against mine...

The dimensions I've wound up using is 24 inches tall, 18 inches wide, 7inch diameter on the feet.

First; as with everything in 40k you measure to the length of the hull, gun barrels do not count.

Second; I'm talking the foot pads on the bottom of the leg...

and you may find this useful.

Not to sound smug, but do you think you'll have it completed within our lifetime? The level of detail is impressive though, what kind of store did you go to for your materials?

Finally; I am not an engineer but I play one on the internet.

Put dispenser here!

Also, are you going to power the legs so it can walk on it's own?

The_Blackadder wrote:Okay buoys and gulls the Blackadder is trying out his new point and shoot. Whut happened to the Tsi3 you may ask? Too friggin' complicated says I. So I got me a GE X500 for quik pixs. hey it's only money..............

So the inner workings are the subject of the next few posts. These legs must support a relatively massive superstructure so an internal framework is required. I'm starting with a 22 mm lateral support to build on. I probably will add structure below, especially slides for the shank to run on but first I have to establish a mean width. 22.0 millimeters seems about right.

This is where precision rears it's ugly head; if you want your legs to be straight and true they have to resemble each other to the nearest 0.001 inch. That's only a couple of passes with your sanding block.

So get out your digital vernier calipers, it's go time.

Yea, that's probably why I had to rebuild the legs on mine 3 times before It wouldn't rock back and fourth...

But this... this is a whole different level of titan...

The_Blackadder wrote:Not to put too fine a point on it but "manual transmission." I wouldn't begin to attempt to comprehend an "automatic transmission."

Okay Ladies and Germs, this is what separates the Blackadder from relatively sane individuals. To borrow a phrase from another Charlton Heston movie, "The Agony and the Ecstasy"; The wine is sour, so throw it out!

I'm not happy with the look. The legs are too thin. So I'm bringing out my second biggest Xacto blade and rending judgment on inferior work.

Don't worry black, I pulled the legs apart and rebuilt them several times on my titan. I admit mine isn't as perfect as yours, but nothing is too extreme in the pursuit of quality imperial fury.

I agree, 90% seems closer, but I personally feel you made it too tall for it's width.

Elaborate please; legs, torso, carapace?

The lower part of the carapace, cut about 2 or 3 inches off the bottom.

Thanks,

Well i'm just going from the pics you posted.

That interior looks like it's going to be a bitch to paint, very detailed though. Keep it up, I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Do you plan to use any GW or FW bits to setup the interior? Consoles, chairs, etc. or are you planning to craft you're own?

The_Blackadder wrote:Okay I should know this but what are these guns on the DS titan called?

It has two Volcano Cannons on the arm gimbles, and two sets of Double Barreled Turbo Laser Destructors on the carapace.

The Volcano Cannons are, Str: D, Ap: 2, Ordinance: 1, 10 Inch Apocalyptic Blast Templates
The Double Barreled Turbo Laser Destructors are, Str: D, Ap: 2, Heavy: 2, 5 Inch Large Blast Templates

The_Blackadder wrote:Yeah I read the interview but the caliber of the Volcano cannon on the Shadowsword is 4mm tops and this gun has what appears to be in excess of 25 mm. So how can it be classified as a Volcano cannon as well? Do they have different hit points?

Bear with me I know nothing about the game; I just build 'em because I like the hardware. My son's the player.

Also the gun on the Shadowsword is a smaller blast template (5 inches), the Volcano Cannon on the warlord is a 10 inch template.

Black I have a question. What did you use to attach the arms? and where did you get it/them?

Spoiler:
I was asked what the connectors were that I used on the arms:

I used variable angled electrical conduit elbows I had left over from rewiring an Italian bread line. The control panel electronics for this automated Roll maker called a 'Doge line' were more complex than the electronics and wiring on a DC 9 commercial jet but I digress; these elbows can be obtained in various diameter from 3/8 ths to one inch (or more, I never checked it out) from Grainger Industrial Supply.

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/conduit-fittings/electrical/ecatalog/N-8a2Z1z0r27o

I used the 1/2 version and they cost about $7.50 each. They are plastic/nylon, extremely durable and wonderfully high-tech looking. The ones I have were surplus from the job and going to be tossed so I grabbed a half dozen. I've been looking for something to use them on.

I found another source for these connectors BTW they are called, "Hubbell Swivellok multiposition elbows"

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hubbell-Swivellok-Liquidtight-Fitting-PS1009NGY-QTY-5-/220755136690

The rest of the connectors for the stanchions are from Home Depot also 1/2 inch and only a few pennies each and are threaded for ease of removal.

Electrical connectors, I never would have even imagined...

So black, have you thought of a name and number for your titan?

Yes well the nurses took a dim view of cleaning up the styrene sawdust and shavings and kicked me out after a week. So much for TLC but I did have quite some time to reflect on what shall be my future course of action.

Its amazing what the camera reveals as opposed to visual perception. The following image is not up to my usual standards and shall have to be reworked before the final painting. Not having seen this until I took the picture today I was not aware of the lopsided work I believe once I get back into my groove again I can offer better work..............

You did pretty good on that back panel, but I think what they actually used was a panel from a scenery set.
It's on ebay.

I think the back of the curved panel is suppose to be a little more flared out from the head.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'll ask anyways. Have you decided on a paint scheme for it? Just going to copy the original?

Have you ever seen Dazzle Camo? A friend on Facebook suggested it to me a while ago, and if I can find a more skilled painter I might just do it to my warlord. But it was a set of patterns to break up the outline of a battleship or large vessel during the world war era.

The first time Luteus Vexant has stood in full stride without careful balancing (I still need to pack half a kilo of lead in the back for optimum stability) but the hip joints are solid and capable of supporting Luteus' 7 kilo bulk.

Here he is with a third of my Superheavy company in vanguard support. Sorry no infantry as yet.

This image has been a long time coming...............

The Blackadder is pleased.

This might just be the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I can't wait to see this painted.
