Im starting a new SM army and I want to start a fun/interesting chapter.At the moment I'm thinking Salamanders or Salamanders' sucessors (If thats possible)
Ideas please (If you say DIY then at least give me an idea!)

Basically a Salamanders successor Chapter, who tend to have dragony bits grow out of them.

Salamanders are cool. Don't forget they're black though. Don't think they have any succesors though. But you could say they are an unknown founding.

I'm sorry I have to break the news, but there are no Salamanders successor chapters. So it's Salamanders of, if you will, Dark Angels.

There is no Salamanders successors in the Space Marine Codex, chowder. But there are chapters which are suspected of being Salamanders successors. (The Black Dragons which were already mentioned.) There may be others, I haven't read every single entry on Lexicanum.

I play Salamanders, and I have to say that their color scheme is quite pretty. Although I do agree with one of the above suggestions: White Scars. I have never seen a White Scars army, and I think their fluff and look are cool.

Another vote for Salamanders or a Salamaders successor. A Vulkan He'Stan build with lots of meltas, flamers, and Thunder Hammers is one of the strongest in C:SM. Well worth it.

You cant not love a Chapter called the Space Sharks. Its against the law or something.

If you want to make your own Chapter (with its own colours) and would like some very vague background fluff, have a look at the Warhawks (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Warhawks). They were presumed destroyed in the 5th Black Crusade. Perhaps your army is a small contingent that survived?

And if you want to do something similar to the Salamanders, look at the Star Dragons (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Star_Dragons). I see no reason they couldnt be made a lot like the Salamanders with a name like that.

They're the rainbow down, and the have a giant spike sticking out of their right shoulder, in there left shoulder, they've got an Alpha symbol.

they're also known for riding massive ponies which don't change them from infantry, and they are afraid of rhinoes and other predators, like the annihilator.

Sound cool enough?
