Show us the best (or favourite) photo you've ever taken, together with a couple of lines telling us what it's about.

This is mine. Taken during a brief stop by the Californian Zephyr at a station seemingly in the middle of nowhere (anyone know where it is, because I've forgotten?). Anyway, I like it because it kind of reflects my job which is transport planning. It struck me chatting to other people on the train that everyone had different reasons for choosing that mode (which is far from the fastest method of transportation in the USA). Me, because I was sightseeing, a few because they prefer not to fly (also me), others because their chosen way of life forbids it (note the Amish crowd in the centre of the pic), one lady beause it was the cheapest option available when she wanted to make the trip and some because they were in no great hurry to get to their destination.

We have built a backyard hockey rink for the past three years.

Despite being out of focus (due to skating while taking it) this photo captures the energy, movement and excitement of many nights spent on it by my kids, their friends and our family...

When I was at uni I used to drive back home at the end of each term through the night, so I could work the next day. I went to university 200 miles from where my home was so it made for a long journey. Because the lives I lead at uni and at home were so different and rarely came together, these journeys felt fairly significant.

Every now and again I'd stop for a cigarette because I didn't like smoking in the car. Wind blowing through the trees, everything almost pitch black save for when a car passed by. Smoke really hitting your lungs hard with the cold dry air. These are some of the most relaxed moments I have ever experienced. No rush, no cares, just stopped for five minutes. And every thirty or so seconds a line of traffic would hurtle by. I never saw anyone of them stop, I never saw anyone outside of there car stopped the whole journey. Just me. That's what this photo means to me.

But I don't take that stuff any more.

Although some of the colors look corrected, Ive seen many rivers and bodies of water that blue.

Damn some of you guys are incredible photographers. Ive been a fan of this type of work since I was a little kid. Makes everyday normal stuff just look beautiful. Also kind of makes you look at everything around you a second time

Please don't attach non wargaming pictures to Dakka. Ta.

Shame, as that is a damn cool picture.

I've got a few of my favorites in my dA account (link in my sig), however, the site is blocked at work so I can't pull up my chosen images at the moment. I will post them when I get home though (also can't see most of the images people are posting here either :().

As nice as those are Wolfstan (especially Korcula), as has been mentioned, you can't attach non wargaming images to dakka - you will need to host them yourself somewhere.

Photobucket, imageshack and deviantART are all good places to host images (the latter is good if you want people to be able to see them all displayed nicely etc).

I've got photos going back over 30 years, most of which aren't easily accessible as they are on slides or negatives. But here's one I like.

It's not technically impressive, it's just a quick snap on a bog-standard digital camera, but it makes me chuckle every time I see it. For that reason it's my favourite picture that I've taken. It's made even more funny (to me, anyhow) by the fact that I HATE christmas, but I let Mrs. Albatross talk me into taking these after a few glasses of wine. Next thing I know, she's turned them in to christmas cards and sent them to all our friends and family!

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

I don't think that either of those is an image url, they are just the pages where the image is displayed, which means that they can't be used in the image tags. Right click on the image and either "copy image location" or go to properties and then copy the image url.

Surprisingly, everyone in my family is great with pictures except me. Than again, I don't own a camera, so I guess that excludes me.
