Any truth to the rumor that GW is planning on buying out its biggest rival in the wargames business? According to the redshirt I talked to at my FLGW store, the plan is for WM and Hordes to be added to the Specialist Games line, which will become a subgroup of PP. In return, Privateer will be getting access to GW's plastics manufacturing base and Forge World resin line.

Thought this was a terrible idea at first, but now I'm liking it more and more. Maybe I'll finally get my damn Destor Thanes.

I think it's extremely unlikely. And if you heard it from a redshirt, almost guaranteed to be wrong.

I think its more likely that Blizzard is going to buy GW.

Wait, what? I hope that's sarcasm, because anything Blizzard Entertainments touch quickly decays, and even though it's rotten through and through, people swarm around it like flies.

Just look at what they did to World of Warcraft, after all good lore (fluff) they built up under the Warcraft series they go ahead and ruin it all, making roleplayers flee the game like rats from a sinking ship.

No chance. Look at what is being said here, buying PP to incorporated it into their 'Specialist Games range'. That's the Specialist Games range that they've been winding down for years and give no support in the stores and which bascially has a tiny fanbase keeping it on life support. There's more chance of Hasbro buying GW.

Maybe WM and hordes will have some good models now other than cryx stuff!

After 6 years WoW still has 10 million subscribers worldwide - that's over $100,000,000 in revine every MONTH. I'm not sure I'd consider that decayed and rotten.

If GW were going to buy PP, they'd have done it when they were small, pre-Hordes.

And then shut the whole thing down.

I think he's saying that WoW ruined the Warcraft franchise... aka those awesome RTS games that existed before WoW started.

Which is why I wrote what I wrote, Incarna. The part about the flies around a rotten corpse..

I began to play wow as soon as it was released, and almost immdedeately began to roleplay there. Then TBC came, adding a nice amount of stuff for us roleplayers.. Then they began to make patches and stuff, making very important characters killable, Kael'Thas, Illidan, Vashj.. And then the great accident called Wrath of the Lich King, where the lore got completely tangled, and ended up with Anub'Arak, Arthas, Kel'Thuzad and many, many others killable. And now this BS about Grom replacing Thrall as the Horde Warchief. Oh, and have you seen the Cata screenshots? The entire world is being torn to pieces with lava torrents and water everywhere.

If one is a mindless grinder who doesn't care for the lore, but wants to feel strong by grinding gear for months just to kill other players or to do raids, then World of Warcraft is the game for you. If you are a roleplayer, who thinks lore is important, pretend WoW never happened.

Im more curious why anyone listens to what a red shirt says.. Would you listen to your average employee at Wal mart about what the CEO plans on doing?

Gaaawd, can you imagine GW buying out PP? PP fans would be seriously off. Prices would double, you would get less minis in a box, quality of the mini sculpting would drop and the metal now plastic.
