I have trimmed a bit. Lighting is close to my usual "cake" setup, although I'll probably do the final pics against black, and I had to use a flash today cos I haven't got the lightbox set up. Magnets? Bah.

Thanks matey!

So, the end approacheth. The RC isn't done - definitely needs some tidying - but the MW is pretty much there. I have really tried to push myself - I hate doing hazard stripes, I can't freehand for tofu, and I've taught myself directional shading, amongst other things. I hope that the end result is worth it.

Also, GiraffeX is a very, very bad man.

Yes, that's a freehand Mantis tattoo. I watched the new Trek in preparation for seeing Into Darkness, and got thinking about Nero. So, now my MW has a name, too. Bit of light glare on his baldy head there, sorry 'bout that.

Ramped up the OSL further.

And alternate shots of the RC:

Can you guess what he was yet?

You really outdid yourself graven. It's stunning and a personal triumph no matter how the comp turns out.

He was a chappy perhaps?

Not a chappy, I just fancied adding some fangs to a skull. Red saltire is over yellow with some black lines...

That looks great. I love both marines. I think you got the whole "stealth camouflage" concept across really well. I think the Corsair looks great too. I particularly like the light being cast through the ruin window. That is really awesome IMHO.

looks amazing... and seems your tofu worked...as the hazard stripes look very cool... you have to take into account the tech you used for the MW...otherwise your RC outshines your MW ... and now I saw all the details you added... somehow I overlooked the bolter and the helmet...by the way, what type is that one? and also...we know have to ask ourself one thing... why is that bombed house having a functioning lamp? confusing world we live in

Thanks my friend. I'm actually really, really worried that the RC will overshadow the MW many ways, both in not being as well painted as the MW and also a distraction. BTW, the RC is a renegade tranquility-pattern MW, hence the yellow with black stripes (so he, too, has camo, techincally). So, I appreciate your kind words. The bolter is Mk6, as are his legs, pack and left shoulder (though you can't really see, I've gs'd the DA symbol into a , the torso front is Mk5 and the helm Mk 4 (my personal favourite). In the grimdark future, someone carelessly left the lights on

I am truly chuffed you think so although arguably then you thought that it was going to be rubbish!

I see soooo many flaws in the RC:
In particular - and tell me if you spot more - there's a little primer still showing through in a few places (inside his right pad, the chainsword (yellow overspill at hilt already addressed), at the hairline and on the pack at the... ears, whatever they are). Skulls need touched up too, but then they're not done yet.
Anything else glaring?

A random aside - someone (YB maybe?) asked if that was the 3rd ed starter ruin I used; no, but it WAS what I was staring at when building this (too big for the base, but same principle).

Didn't think the original idea was rubbish at all, in fact I thought it was cool. My own vision I had in my mind of what you were going to do was just not nearly as good as what you had envisioned. In essence my mind could not omprehend the awesomeness you were prepared to do.

@ Gits, ^I'm quite sure they will! BTW do you want a composite shot for the competition, one pic, spoilers, or what?

Here you go then, I think these are they. LMK if you think there are (a) any obvious flaws (b) any missing angles.
