Fun idea here.

It depends how far you want to go/convert as many orks are already seen as fighting in deserts.

But for a "proppa" desert ork you could...

Green stuff turbans or sunglasses (Laurence of Arabia style warboss!?)
base the models to match a desert
convert vehicles to be more deserty (Tarpaulins/baggage. look up desert vehicles ww2 for inspiration)
Warbikes could be stripped down or replaced by desert creatures.
A Nob could replace his boss pole with a sun umbrella

Hope these help.

Desert Orks sounds a fun idea.

Maybe have the clothes in desert camo.

Battlewagon painted pink. No, seriously, pink is used for desert camo, see the Pink Panther Land Rover. I think there is an old Land Rover kit you can get actually, would make a good Trukk.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

Crusading deep in the Eastern Fringe.

You can green stuff some headwraps and heavy scarves over their heads and covering the lower part of their faces, respectively.

You could also green stuff goggles onto them.

If you're going to be looting any vehicles try to make them look very bare-bones. Even Orks would go crazy trying to maintain a complex vehicle in a desert environment, I think.

No pity!
No remorse!
No fear!

I would go with Blood axes, that way you can do a desert camo theme on the clothes/uniforms. If your green stuff skills are up to scratch then add some Shamaghs (middle eastern head scarves), Oakley style sun glasses and lots of water canteens. As a previous poster said swaping bikes for desert beasts would look good, if your feeling flush then the Tallarn Mukaali would be good, in fact the Tallarn are a good source of inspiration. Striped down vehicles with lots off bagage, especialy fuel drums and radio antenas. Orks are great because they lend themselves to being themed so easily, have a google for desert warfare images especialy WW2 North Africa for ideas

I speedpainted up a desert-themed Ork army with my Dezz'urt Ratz. Here's some of their kommandos:

It all boils down to the paint scheme really. Orks have a Mad Max-esque "raider" quality about them as is, so they already look the part.

Yeah, really it's as easy as painting in tan or white and basing them desert colored.

If you want to really stress the theme, then yeah, go lawrence of arabia with linen wrappings everywhere.

Didn't somebody do a desert themed ork army with sombreros?

Otherwise GS linen wrappings and a desert themed paint job would do the trick.

I have a ton of IG canteens that came in a bitz grab bag that I don't think I'm going to use. If you want them, send me a PM.

Desert camo or Beduin head dresses would be awesome accesories for the greenies!

How can JRPG's stay alive with nowhere to expand and develop?

They stay alive because Japanese people love seeing a rainbow's assortment of hair colours, people with animal ears, wings, or tails, clothes that even a blind guy wouldn't wear, and cookie-cutter angsty teenage-hero characters that all have some life-shattering unique, heartfelt sad soppy story.

Likewise, many people in the West are slowed to some degree, and they think that the storylines and characters are actually of a decent quality. Generally, these people are in the 12-16 bracket and/or are the same crowd that think the Twilight movies are the best films ever produced/books ever written.

Mine are similar to brother SRM Orks. But alas Im repainting their skin red, so Im probably going to redo the whole army, as I think the tans and browns will clash with the reds Im going for
