Quite simply, what's the worst thing that has ever happened to you in a 40k game? We've had the dice be evil to us all, but how badly?

For me, it's either having 2 space marine captains with plasma pistols, both killing themselves without any help from the enemy via getting hot, (and a bad dangerous terrain roll, to add injury to... well, more injury..) or this scenario: 3 Zoanthropes, 3 shots at the oncoming dreadnaught, 3 perils of the warp attacks (2 double-6s and one double-1). Ouch....

Then again, losing 3 carnifexes to one Jaws of the World Wolf seems quite evil!

How bad does it get? Also, do you have any rituals, like blowing on the dice, never saying "Anything but a 1", etc?

At ard boys my 2 zoanthroape rolled and succed their Psykic tests with a 7 both did this. then both got a 3 to hit and rolled doublee ones to wound this other damnd zoantthrope this happened the same exact way twioce in the same game and it was contesting an objective i still won the game though.

at a tournament today, a squad of tactical marines moves through dangerous terrain.

roll for my sergeant... 1
roll for my melta gunner... 1
roll for my multi-melta... 1

roll for the rest of my squad... ok!
the squad is completely neutered in one fell swoop, by the damn eldar web thingy.

I hate dangerous terrain, always the important guys that bite the dust. I can't see how anyone can call the nightspinner bad. What it can do to mess with your opponents movement is very good for its pts

I know, have you seen it against jump armies? It's horrifying...

Anyway, my dice are generally average. When I roll well, though, that means that my other games are gonna suck. For example, in my last tourney, in the 1st game, I made 8 out of 12 scatter dice roll a hit, the rest scattered so little it didn't matter. He got wrecked. The very next game, my scatter dice die and I made about 4 cover saves the whole game.

Worst dice rolls would probably be when my Manticore's shots scatted...onto itself, and the infantry screen above it. God that sucked.

Hm now that I think about it. I havent had horrible luck since I switch do casino dice. I play chaos marines so never have to roll alot of dice at once so I can get away with it.

But a few that made me laugh from times past.

Had a weridboy head bang his way all over the board every single turn for a whole game once.

Had 2 oblits that would ALWAYS roll a 1 and a 2 when they shot there las cannon.

getting 3 of my trucks stuck on rough terrain all in one turn >.>

4 mega nobs moving all of 8 inchs over 6 turns.

I have average luck with my dice. One round I'll fail every armour save thrown my way, the next I'm passing 6+ 'go to ground' bare saves and killing LR with a solo Lascannon shot.

However, sometimes I get a little suspicious about my opponents at our FLGS. They are very protective about their dice, and refuse to let anyone else use them, even if it's for a passing roll or if you've forgotten yours. That and the fact that they roll pretty decently with them makes me a sad panda.

HAHA! I once had a squad of 20 boys cross the entire field (not run as it was 4th edition) with 1000 points of guard unload into it. Tanks, heavy weapon teams, lasguns a plenty. And they still hit the enemy with 7 of them left. I've heavy seen so many 1s to wounds and passed ork armour saves.

Vassal nonsense. Always seem to lose three terminators per batch of 5-6 armor saves...

I once put 10 wounds on Lysander...

That's just evil. And sounds exactly like my Vendetta. Will always penetrate a vehichle, but has never managed to get anything over an immobilised.

Ah yes the day my Daemon Prince killed himself with perils of the warp without any help from the enemy.

Had two Nurgle Chaos Lords kill themselves with their manreapers at the last wound. The look on my opponent's face as he rolled both 1's and failed the invul helped show me why I never should take a demon weapon.

My own worst die rolls are when my defilers fail to hit anything in CC for 4 turns in a roll despite 5 attacks each turn, vs gaunts no less.

Penetrated and vehicle destroyed a vindicator with a krak missile from its front armour .

My friend charged my 10 man ranged terminator squad with tigurious attached with a khorne lord and 10 beserkers. Of the what 12 power weapon attacks and soemthing like 40 khorne beserker attacks, only 2 termies dead! All died from power fists to the face in the ensuing combat.

Oh man. I was playing against some Crimson Fists two weeks ago, and he had gotten a squad with a meltagun close to the battlewagon that was carrying my Lootas and SAG Mek. For 3 turns he kept trying to kill it, only to roll 1's on his to-hit rolls... and then I rolled a double one on my SAG Mek and managed to do what he had been attempting to the entire game. Wiped out all my Lootas, his unit and the speeder that it came in, and I rolled an Explodes result on the damage table for my wagon.

Needless to say, I lost the game, but I'm not sure whether it was due to that or due to us laughing as hard as we did.

This wasn't bad for me, but it was horrible for my opponent, in a 1000 point game, I was running my BA, he was running Lascannon heavy guard. At first his Lascannons obliterated my Devs, but after that they turned to suck. Every shot he made missed, failed at wounds, failed at invuln, not a single one did anything lasting. Eventually he turned all (8) lascannons on my Dread for 3 turns, and the only thing that happened was a weapons destroyed and a stunned.

Suffice to say I was very happy with my dice. I think he gave his up for adoption.

hitting with a vindicator, I managed to smash 6 LR, and because they were so closely packed, when my scatter happened, I ended up hitting two tanks with the blast template.

I rolled against rear armour, hit 3,6 and 5,1 for the other (for ordnance.) and then rolled six on both models damage.

he was maad.

Unless both tanks were facing the other way, you messed this up. A vindicators shot isn't Barrage Ordnace, as far as I am aware it is just Ordnance. Yes you roll 2D6 choose the highest, but you would have to have done so at half strength (due to not getting the blast centre over the vehichle) and rolled it against the Front AV.

They both wounded themselves three times? Despite armour saves? The chance of six gets hot followed by failed power armour saves is 0.00000029%


The only memorable dice fail for me was back in 2nd edition. Final of an elimination tournament, very even on victory points going into the last turn. My chief librarian has chased down a terminator squad that's one model over half strength and cast machine curse on them so they can't fight back. Charges into combat - 4 attacks, autohit, wound on 2+, no save. Zero wounds. Lost by five victory points......

It is barrage according to the summary in the codex. They've errata'd it since.

The errata made it Barrage? Or stopped it being Barrage?

Still, at half strength that makes 1 Pen, and 1 Glance (5+5 = 10).
So that would have been one exploded, and the other Immobilised. I have seen worse. A lot worse.

I don't pay much attention to the Errata's unless there's an upcoming tournament in which they'll be used. Which rarely happens anywhere near here.

I hope you don't play BA vindicators then! (according to the codex they don't have a blast.....)

I roll poory every single game. It's one of the reasons I tend to play MEQ's. It means I'll get just under half the shots I fire actually hit, on average. When I play guard and fire roughly 7 or 8 out of 10 shots will miss at BS 3.

This is basically what happens with everything though. Armour saves, to wound, whatever.

Unless both tanks were facing the other way, you messed this up. A vindicators shot isn't Barrage Ordnace, as far as I am aware it is just Ordnance. What I did, was didn't mention which was which.

the first was hit at 3,6 (S5) and the second at S10.

He only had a 15/36 of killing a grot with a lascannon - it was more likely that he'd fail than that he'd succeed. Should've had a multi laser!
