I'm building a land raider for a friend because he's scared to mess it up, LOL. So anyway, I'm sitting here looking at all the pieces, and I'm thinking: "Wow, does this hatch really need to open the right way?"

There's a piece inside the land raider's left door that makes both of the assault door pieces open together. This seems pretty useless to me, and I asked him about it, and he doesn't care either way, as long as it opens

So what should I do? Should I not attach that part, or will it be really floppy and annoying if I do?

Also, he says I have permission to paint the inside, so should I leave the top piece off, or should I just paint everything before assembling it?

Not sure if these questions are stupid,LOL. I've done my own land raider before, but I didn't paint the inside, so I have no idea how hard it is to paint.

Any advice would be nice ^.^.

The part makes it so that when you open one door of the fron hatch, the other opens as well, its very clear and suprisingly tough.

Yes, leave the top off but I'd paint the inside before gluing it together.

Land raider, I find are pretty hard to put together at first (or at least for me it was) so take a lot of time and work out which piece goes where, then dry fit it and finally glue it with as little glue as possible.

If you assemble it before painting the interior, make sure you have a pen light and a very small brush to reach all the recesses and nooks.

Personally I'd paint the interior, assemble the model, then paint the exterior. Leaves less room for error.

As for the piece inside the left hatch, I've always used that piece and never left it off, so I dunno what to tell you there.

So I should put on that little knob thing? Maybe I just glued mine too much, but it feels "sticky" to open the door. I don't want him to have to deal with that...

I can't remember off the top of my head how to do it, but I seem to remember you can leave the top off the LR and pin it in place at a later date - this way it is secure, but you can remove it whenever you want to show off the interior.

That would be awesome! I bet I could use magnets too. Although I have none :(

That would be excellent, and it would make a good way to show a destroyed vehicle

I do this with turrets. It shows weapon destroyed results well.

Go down to your local RadioShack and buy some rare earth magnets. They're cheap, small, flat, and powerful. Perfect for this purpose. Glue them onto each piece with some epoxy or superglue and bam. Removable parts.

Radioshack sells them? Awesome! Might have to pry apart my land raider now

When I was working there a year ago they did. Knowing them, they may have nixed them because they didn't sell all that well.

Or, you could catch them right before they get rid of them and get them for like 97 cents on clearance.

I hope so. That would save me a lot of time. There's a radioshack right around the corner. I'll go there tomorrow. I'm sure my friend will be more than happy that I magnetized his land raider

Handy guide showing how to build a land raider redeemer but can be used for all variants. These guys know their stuff and do a fairly good build tutorial.

Wow, believe it or not, I actually watched these videos when I put together my own land raider...The only hard part is remembering to put those lights in before you glue down the hatch

Oh, thanks. It was an advice thread at first, so I figured it should go in the general discussion.

i guess you need to use those parts for the hatch or else you wont be able to close it.

and i painted the interior of my lrs, glued them, taped all the open parts,basecoated/airbrushed them and painted the outside
