I am thinking of making a Space Marine army to follow my If in Apocalypse Battles. I am thinking of having them be a Chapter that is formed from the loyalist forces that escaped when their chapter turned chaos.

Key parts in their fluff would be:
1: they are always understrength.
2: the Inquisition wont stop staring at them.
3: they hate all forms of Chaos more than almost anyone.
4: they do not follow the codex astartes.
5: Armor is painted in a solid plain Gray. (they removed all colors connecting them with their old chapter.)
and
6: the chapter symbol is a Purity seal painted on the shoulder.

Tell me what you think.

Yes this seems like a blend of GK & Soul drinkers (before they were being hunted down)

Its not the gray knights for one, Grey knights are (for some reason) silver. also Grey knights are older and wont take in marines that were just orphaned.

He's saying most of what you describe is also describing GKs, which I have to agree with. It is rumored that the GK or inquisition was founded by the crew of the Eisenstein (members of traitor chapters who stayed loyal)

Sounds kinda like Space Wolves too.

Captain Nathanial Garro and 70 marines from the Death Guard legion and 1 member of the Luna Wolves were used to found the Grey Knights.

Which is annoying, because the old fluff of them being based on the Emperor's geneseed was cooler.

well, technically ALL marines are based on the Emperors Genes. Primarchs based on Emperor, Marines based on Primarchs.........


and who's to say the emperor didn't add his geneseed to those 72 marines geneseed at a later date?

We're talking completely clean cut. None of that watered down crap that normal smurfs get. No, we're talking 100% Columbian Emperor seed right here.

I rember that from the book and did get the idea from that but, what i'm saying is grey knights don't currently take in marines as far as i know.

Ya I don't want to do Deathwatch because even tho they are cool, I don't wanna have to think of a good reason a company sized force of them would show up to die to protect the Imperial Guard. V.S.

Anyway, previous posters are correct in that these guys seem like clones of the Grey Knights. The fluff about hating Chaos and being a splinter of a chapter that went traitor are good though, keep those. The purity seal symbol, while I don't believe it is in use, seems a little too... ubiquitous among Space Marines to be a good chapter insignia. That's just my opinion.

Pick a color other than gray, divorcing themselves from their previous chapter allegiance is fine, but gray just screams Grey Knights. If you want to use a purity seal as their insignia, add something to it. A purity seal wrapped around a skull, wrapped around a sword, crossed with a lightning bolt, anything. Just not a plain old purity seal.

I've actually become quite attached to my skull/purity seal idea. Dirty yellow would be cool, but be prepared to get a lot of people asking if they're Imperial Fists. Punch them in the face if they do.

I get it all the time with my Storm Crusaders being mistaken for White Scars, even though the White Scars don't have black shoulders or gold trim etc.

That's my DIY chapter.

They don't exist in 40k canon. I checked Lexicanum to be sure.

If they exist somewhere else, apologies to the owner of that particular bit of intellectual property.

I'm actually considering stripping and repainting all 3400 points of Space Marines that I own, I'm getting a little tired of white, and of them getting called White Scars.

dont do grey maybe yellow? or white, white could show them clensing themselves from their failure before.

maybe gold to copy the emperor?

I think Brown armor with gold knees No shoulder trim color golden hems and company colors on backpack exhausts. that looks cool
