Awesome. I have an Ultramarines base on colour scheme, but mixed it up a little closer to my taste. Right now imma outta white, so ill have to wait till a trip to the store. For the record, I use testors paint. Much cheaper, much more on hand. No official stores in my town or for that matter my state.

By official stores, do you mean only the ones that are called "Games Workshop"? Because there might not be any of those, but if you're anywhere near Springfield, there's a great gaming store there that carries Citadel paints & lots of GW products. That's where my fiance and I go.

It's not like in Florida (where I am most of the year) where the only store that actually carries Warhammer 40k any more in a three-county span thankfully happens to be right down the street from my University, but only occupies the space of an average bedroom. [My fiance and I spent a whole day going to a list of the places that supposedly carried Games Workshop stuff, most of them only had one box of 40k-related inventory (usually Orks or IG), and they were desperately trying to get rid of it, because the stuff doesn't sell in Florida for whatever reason.]

Do you happen to mean Springfield...Missouri? and more or less stores that sorta focus on GW products.

Yes, that is exactly where I mean. I noticed your little sidebar says that's the state you're in.

More on the topic: Would you mind putting a picture or two here? I'm too lazy to go to the gallery.

Fair enough. Consider it constructive criticism, then.

I assume you say they fight Imperial Guard because you play against someone who uses Guardsmen, you should ask for some spare heads and give 'em to your blood drenched Dreadnaught.

or maybe not, might be tipping it a bit too far towards the dark powers

Only if he wants the =I= all over his ass.

'Course, killing Guardsmen qualifies as "allegedly renegade" anyway.

Muahahaha. I do (for some reason) have a old chaos codex (must be really old though) from a friend at school. Maybe it has cursed me.

Maybe you should try using a smaller brush....Buy more tactical squads before you start making unnecessary purchases (like a chapter master).

Also, I'd suggest writing down your color scheme to have it stuck in your mind when painting. Traditionally, you should have a base color and a trim color (work out the first company first) and accessory color.

(ultramarines =Blue, gold, white/gold)

You've got too many colors going on and it makes it confusing.

You will regret saying that. Some day I will bring my hammer down on yo face. That will not be fun for you.

Hey. It dose say in the Ig codex, Commissars let guardsmen take battle trophies because it makes them look scarer to the bad guys.

I was wondering what that thing was on his head. I thought maybe he was supposed to be a Klingon...
Now knowing the truth, it reminds me of the minions from Overlord II, where they pick up all sorts of loot from the enemies, oftentimes putting it on their head. (And one of the elder guys says something to the effect of "when I was a young minion, oh the things I would put on my head.") I've seen one have a dead peacock on its head, A WHOLE PEACOCK. Legs, head, everything. That would be a funny theme for guardsmen... Maybe more fittingly Traitor guard though.

On a world in the Charadon Sector, The Mentors Chapter has raised a new battle company. The Shock Marines.
These marines, although newfound, have started their training since the ages of 15-18. Only the most intelligent and the most fit were chosen. Like most chapters, those who would be were selected then brought to an arena. Although starting at 1000 bodies, the arena dwindled them all down, but still left a lot. For a reason. Being so close, the Ultramarines lent a hand, offering the Aglesius Barracks and many others to raise the neophytes, but the Mentors refused. Instead, those who survived the arena were given standard-issue Guard lasguns, laspistols, and all the other gear an average Guard Soldier would be given. Then they were told to hunt feral orks out in the wilderness. Dividing them into 10-man squads, with only one heavy weapon for each squad. Not one decided to take a heavy weopon. These squads missions were as follows: Whichever squads brings back 50 ork scalps within a week will be recruited into being a Space Marine. By the end of the week, only enough boys for a company returned, as planned. Quickly, it became apparent who was the leader amongst the boys, who were all covered in mud and looked more like the beast they tried to kill, as everyone seemed to follow him, for no apparent reason. By his side was a boy, who although he didn’t look as fit, seemed much more intelligent than the rest. Another boy seemed to be ordering around boys tasked to holding others on stretchers. Finally another looked like his was giving Last Rites while moving, while Preaching at the same time. Some carried what looked like the heaviest ork weapons. Others were watching the flank of the company, riding on ork cycles, dragging chains and pipes across the ground, making noise for noise. And so, the Shock Marines Company was formed.
I know I'm not a writer, but I think it sounds pretty good. much better than the old fluff I had here. that sucked.
