How would you make a single Man Drop Pod? I am trying to Model them After the ones on Emperors Mercy. I was thinking along the Lines of a ODST Drop pod, or Just a Smaller Drop Pod?
Have You ever made one? Pic's?
I hope to have these made Cheaply and Quickly. ( i.e. not one a week)
Any Ideas?
P.S: I really don't want to hear "Well, the Ironclad didnt have single-man Drop pods, etc, etc"

what kind of army do you play? If you play chaos guard or something, you could make plasticard coffins adorned with chaos stars. It would be pretty hardcore chaos... a rain of coffins on the battleground, and out jump reanimated dead guardsmen.
|
After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Oh Yeah, I forgot. Chaos Space Marines!
I want to try and stick to the fluff for this one, so no Coffins here. Thats getting a Little bit to close to BA flying Land Raiders

The mob that do the "plasma hatchers" that tyranid players were using as spore pods also do a mecha version that comes with a small 'drop pod' that is fine for a "one shot".
Probably up to a 5 man demi-squad.

Probably not. Having investigated a bit more I have discovered that I was incorrect about Quake 4, however check this out for Quake 2.

Those aren't the ones I was referring to.
These were smaller and were under a tenner (AUSTRALIAN) so around $5-7 (at most) US$.
Some brits found them for under 1 pound in some places.
Ya gotta go scour some toystores.

Oh I know that, But they don't make Plasma Hatchers anymore. So finding them would be a Bitch.

How are your scratchbuilding and greenstuff skills?
You might want to base the model on the Kinder Surprise egg. Wait, I see you're from the US. Apparently that's one of the few places in the world where you can't get those eggs due to some law over there which prohibits non nutrient stuff inside the food (I guess Willy Wonka's chocolate bars with the golden tickets would have been illegal over there as well). But it should be possible to get some variant over there. The egg looks like this:

If you have any stiff card or plsticard and a few bits and pieces, making up a single man drop pod should not be too hard.
At the very simplest you could make a triangular drop pod (ie 3 sided). Cut three 2 inch long, 1 inch wide at the base, 0.5 inch wide at the top trapeziums, then cut three 1 inch by 1 inch triangles, and a single 0.5 inch by 0.5 inch triangle.
Then glue together with the smallest triangle forming the "roof", the long triangles forming the sides, and the 1 inch triangles forming the blast plating at the bottom.
Then garnish with bits. The valk has some good thrusters you can steal and add to the blast plating as retro rockets. Then you might be able to add in a tank hatch/turret ring to the small triangle at the top (not sure it would fit, but you can have a go) as a docking/transfer ring.
Then a few more garnishing bits, like some reinforcement to the joins, rivets, pipes etc, and you are done.
The great thing is that because all of these pieces are detailed only on one side, you can cast them really easily in a simple mould - you could probably even use dental or other hardened plasters rather than resin for the bits too.

That other drop pod is cool, but I don't live down under.
