Here's a land raider i'm painting up... trying a new technique for highlighting. Normally I just do an extreme highlight of goblin green, then an even more extreme highlight of scorpion green. Did something quite different this time... spray primed the tank snot green, then applied a thick layer of badab black to the whole tank... then drybrushed snot green onto it, then drybrushed goblin green onto it, then drybrushed scorpion green onto it, then did a final edge highlight with scorpion green. What do you think of it, dakka?

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

I thoroughly enjoy it, everything looks very smooth and even. If only I had the patience to pull something like this off...

Now, what did you do for the lascannons? Is that just some thinned down and washed silver?

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

the lascannons are just thinned down boltgun metal.

Painting wise, i love it.
Great smooth edges with sections picked out by the drybrushing work great.

Only problem i do have isnt with the painting, its the suicide pattern lascannons i dont like (well, suicide for marines that leave via the side door)

While I'm not crazy about the metallics or the grey parts, that green is absolutely lovely.

thanks for the kind words, guys. Its nerve wracking to paint a $60 model with a brand new technique that i've never tried before... glad to know it came out alright, and i'll certainly be doing it with my other vehicles. Didn't take significantly longer than any other vehicle i've done, so time isn't a factor.... thats about 4 hours of work on this raider.

Need to just freehand some chapter symbols on it, and i'm good.

well, the phobos and demos patterns are known variants of the dual-godhammer wielding pattern... Mars pattern may be the wrong name for it... its probably a phobos pattern or something.

ma bad there's nothing fancy or forgeworld about it.

Looks very nice indeed. I'm not a fan of harsh edge highlights, (see my gallery) so this suits my tastes very much.
