Well my Khorne bezerker CSM army is going to be arriving soon, so I have started to think about painting them. I like the normal theme of red and bronze but I think it's a bit dull and over used. So I am asking you guys at dakka- How can I put my own spin on the standard Bezerker color scheme? I want to make them more interesting and detailed, but I am stuck for ideas. All I can think of is making the helmets bone coloured.

An old crypt

Here is an idea, you could forget about red completely and use a different color. Perhaps you could do a dark purple instead of red but keep all the trim and iconography bronze/gold.

An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded.

The bone helmets would be cool looking. You could go with a pre heresy color scheme. Or you could go with a brass armor and black trim. You could try Bolter and chainswords chaos armypainter to try different schemes out.

Just my $.02

ssshhhhh! Its a secret!

You could try bronze with a red trim.

I have been testing on the CSM painter and so far I am leaning towards red with black tirm and helmet with bronze details. I would leave an image but it isn't working for me at the moment.

Hi there ,

here's a Berserker painted in a Night Lords colour scheme (I just didn't like the red in an army full of blue )

Night Lords: 5500 points / 1750 points painted
Orks: 1250 points / 300 points painted
Orcs & Goblins: 6000 points / 2500 points painted
Tomb Kings: 3000 points / 1500 points painted

You could go a completely different route,
Take Marines of loyalist colour schemes and the paint over them in washes of red ink/gloss to show they have literally
painted themselves in blood. There are numerous gore/blood tutorials around for inspiration.

Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Paint em as the Skulltakers warband, bone helmet, red main color, silver trim and bronze Khorne icons. I'll provide the newest color scheme picture from IA 7 later.
An old picture of their color scheme can be found here http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Skulltakers if you can't wait.

Yeah I like that a lot. I may do that but make the trim black.

this is a juggernaut of khorne FYI.

and its a khorne paint scheme FYI.

theres no silver(as in the black legions scheme) FYI.

there are other chapters using black and gold and that doesnt make them black legion FYI.

and its also a paint scheme used for khorne berzerkers by GW FYI.

basically red,gold/bronze,black(blueish) schemes look great on khorne minis.

i really like the ops idea with the bleached bone parts.

pre heresy is great as well, but almost overused by now.

I don't understand why it's a "Khorne" paint scheme, it's not bronze, not red and never told about in the fluff.

HamHamLunchbox wrote:

Black legion doesn't have silver trims anymore, page 22 CSM codex.

Which ones?

HamHamLunchbox wrote:

Obviously, since those berzerkers are part of the Black Legion, GW often paints chaos minis regardless of the God as Black Legion. Black Legion is their flagship paint scheme for chaos marines and it includes marines aligned with all the gods.

Back on topic, I'm having problems with my scanner, it produces super heavy files I can't upload to dakka gallery, I'll GIMP it up and post back.

Gathering the Informations.

Just go with all bronzed armor, and wash it with successive layers of Gryphonne Sepia and Baal Red to give it a blood tinged tone.

Painting them pure bronze would look good but the army has 3 rhinos and 3 predators and applying that scheme to those models could be difficult. Without the washes it won't be the same colour

Black with gold trim, similar to that Juggernaut, still looks Khornate to me, but without the red, so it'll look different.

You'd have to use literally zero red though.

A cracked lava pattern would look awesome, but would be very time consuming.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

got a couple suggestions

first, all bronze would actually be pretty easy if you use the tutorial on BOLS. What i do is something like this (dont actually have the recipe) scorched brown, hawk turqoise(plus a little bleached bone) wash for verdigras, dry brush bestial brown, drybrush snakebite leather, drybrush bronze, drybrush shining gold, drybrush burnished gold, then a little bit of chainmail.
Its long, but goes pretty quickly and looks nice and worn and weathered. Should also work pretty good on tanks if you just use the drybrushing types around the plate edges and then weather the flat areas differently.

I have thought of doing an entire bone colored scheme. If you use layers upon layers of bleached bone and gyphone sepia (paint bleached bone, wash w/ sepia, highlight bleached, wash all with sepia, highlight...etc) It turns out a nice brownish tan bone color.

My third idea would be to do something like the khorne showcase in the 40k rulebook. It was the basic red and bronze but had orange-flame geometric shapes all over the armor. That would be pretty labor intensive, but is worth the effect if you can get it right.

Go for a scab red color instead of blood red. Scab and mechrite can have a lot of depth if you was them right.

Also, I like the idea of rust, so maybe like...Brownish warriors with a dirty gold trim. Either that, or make them brown marines with gold trim and have blood running out from their joints, helmet, hands and other things. I've always wanted to do that! It's like the cleaved, but for khorne.

A bone/off white and red color scheme would work.

Anyone else wonder why the metal on the Juggernaut in that pic is oxidizing?

I think an orange scheme would be really cool.
Also, make the outline silver or dark silver.

Make your khorne warriors orange.
Since Khornes warriors dress themselves in the colours of blood (that means tyranid blood colours: red, blue, purple, green, etc. etc. etc.).

Perhaps there is an alien that has orange blood. Khorne wouldn't care, as one person said this, "He has a god head, so he's colourblind.".
