Want a female Tau army, but don't have 50,000 Shadowsun heads laying around - or want some variety?

I was looking through my Bitz box today and happened to pick up 1) a male Tau uncovered head and a 2) Daemonette head.

You know, if you file the nose off the Daemonette heads, they look very Tau. Similar shape, similar eyes (at least to Shadowsun, a bit different from male Tau heads, but still), similar hair (at least on the Daemonettes with topknotty ponytails), and you just gotta get rid of the Slaanesh earrings and the nose.

So, as a heads up to anyone out there who wants a female Tau Shas'ui or what have you, there you go. Use Daemonette heads.

Nah, I have a thing about my Tau all being smart and wearing their damn helmets when there are bolter rounds flying. So I haven't personally implemented this.

Who knows, though, I may decide to try it just to see how it looks. If I do I'll be sure to take pictures and post. Gotta actually have extra FW parts to work with before I can though.

Whats this? A use for the Daemonettes? I do the same with my tau (all helmets that is). Never understood the concept of taking your helmet off in a firefight. If its so useless in the first place why issue em? Back on topic though if anybody has a spare Daemonette head they could file down and toss a pic up that would be cool.

Female tau don't look that different from male tau. This is mentioned in fluff how the differences in the sexes isn't as drastic as in humans. Also Shadowsun is a bit of a mutant. She's the only female tau shown with such a a mark.

Oh so they're no different to eldar? I was planning to pick up some daemonettes to steel a couple of their armours (had the random idea that i'd like to see banshees in them). If I do get around to that I won't need the head so I'll see what I can do for all of you.

Thats all fine and dandy fluff wise, but if someone wanted to make a female army, they would of failed if they have to explain to EVERYONE that even though they look like normal Tau (or whatever for that matter) that they are infact all females. You would get a stupid look and possibly a pat on the head.

Nice idea really

actually, from what i've seen/heard, all female Tau have that little mercedes-benz logo on their head. It's how they tell, because female tau don't look too different from the men. So they have to be careful who they hit on

Also, just in case this thread hasn't been resolved, there's a company in the U.K who makes female tau bits (though due to copyright laws they can't CALL them Tau.) They look pretty damn nice. the only drawback is all their products are in English Pounds Sterling, so it's more expensive if you're from... well any other country. http://www.zealotminiatures.co.uk/#!__zealot-store/alien-female-heads
I only know because I came upon them on a different Dakka thread and leafed through their products. I myself am building a secondary army of Tau and wanted to do the very same thing. Since the sisters of battle have been kind of retconned, there aren't many worthwhile female troops (read: none, except daemonettes... )
