Well i dont have any pictures to show yet because i just put all of the infantry (Minus heavy weapon teams) into simple green.

But in this this blog i will be redoing my Cadians again.
The Majority of these models i inherited from my older brother several years ago when he stopped playing.
I must of spent about 5 hours max on painting the models i did paint (Its sad i know)

These are the models i hope to paint/repaint and base this time.

50-60 cadians

6 Heavy Weapon teams

5 ratling snipers

10 storm troopers

Leman Russ battle tank

Leman Russ demolisher

Hellhound

Basilisk

3 ogryn

Valkyrie

Commisar Yarrick

Junior Officer with Power Sword

Senior officer with Power Fist

Sentinel (hoping to make another one out of an old deff dread.)

And their sister allies

20 sisters

2 rhinos

9 repentia

5 seraphim

1 cannoness

So its alot to do and my painting skills haven't improved very much so they gone from bad to bad.
Still i hope that i take my time then i can create a good looking army.

you can strip them down with acetone free nail polish remover. it's the only one as far as i know which doesn't turn plastic figures into lumps of plasticy gunge!

Well it was late when i started and i have a tourney tommorow so i only got a few metal models done.

These were

2 Ogryn (Very surprised with the amount of detail)

5 Ratlings

Half of Yarrick (I shoved him back in to get the last two layers off )

1 Stormtrooper (also surprised with the detail (not as much as the ogryn though))

1 Cadian Sniper

So i pulled one guardsman out and started to scrub him and then started to scrub..and gave up.
The simple green only got to the third layer of paint
And it doesnt eat through the games workshop primer(Damn my older brother(I never use GW primer because of the price and how simple green doesn't get through))

So all 50 of the guardsmen will need to be stripped with something different.

How well does acetone free nail polish remover work on plastic?

However tomorrow i should be able to get done the officers the last sniper, yarrrick, last ogryn and the nine stormtroopers.

The best way to strip Plastic isn't with Nail Polish Remover, or definitely not Pure Acetone, God no. Use Dettol. Let them soak for 45-90 Minutes, depending, and then take them out and give them a Scrub-a-dub-dub with a Toothbrush. Rinse and Repeat if this doesn't take off all the Paint, but increase the Soaking Time by 30 Minutes. If, when Scrub-a-dub-dubbing, the Dettol is leaving a sticky residue, don't use Water to clean it away. Use more Dettol, on a Brush, and that should eat through the gunky residue, and get rid of it.

Good luckinz!

Thanks!

I just spent 3 hours scrubbing stormtroopers and an officer and picking remaining paint out of the recesses. (the last two troopers are in different cups)
It took soooo long.
But now its done.

So any ideas on a colour scheme?

What do you think about blazing orange and warlock purple over a white undercoat.
Guns Chain mail with orange stripes and dwarf flesh for the the skin?

You're welcome. I just did the same to some Deffkoptas. I'm going to be Painting them now, for no apparent reason or purpose! Hazard Stripes and Alternating Schemes, here we go. Anyway, you don't really need to get rid of all the Paint. Just the Majority. If you're having trouble with Recesses, try using a Toothpick or Cocktail Stick to pick it out. I'd say the best way to decide on a Scheme is to do some Test Miniatures. If you don't have any spare, then just use some from your Army - you can always Strip them again afterwards.

I will do some test miniatures first.

And yes i MUST find toothpicks.

And just confirming. Does dettol get through GW primer?

Just a bad quality picture (built in web-cam photo) will do better next time.
These are the metal models Ive stripped (Just one Officer Left to strip, for metal models)

Looking forward to seeing the Test Miniatures. If you take a Picture of them in a Row, and Number them 1-4 or whatever, then we can Vote on which we like the best. You could even include it as a Poll, as it would be more noticeable there.

As for the Primer, it definitely gets through Skull White Primer, no problems at all. Chaos Black might need some extra time to shift, but I'm sure it'll work, yeah.

Nice bunch of models you've got there. I'm surprised at how well the stripping worked, especially in the detail of Yarrick.

Without paint and with paint

As you can see i still have to add more purple (Already Done) fix the chipping (Almost Done) and fix quite a few mistakes also paint the hands.
And i will leave it till finished but it think i will give it a heavy asurmen blue wash to give it some shading and make plain white look better
P.S also some chainmail left to do on the gun.

Yeah their going to be looking for soldiers
The idea is the stormtroopers train on an inhospitable world that sustained partial exterminatus. So Lava and purple toxic rivers are a common sight.
would you consider this model to be tabletop quality?

I can't say, I'm having trouble seeing

They look good, maybe a light wash of black to rough them up abit/tone down all those bright colours/blend the colours into one another, but that is preferance.

Prehaps some zoomed out pictures? I acturely find it hard to tell whether the model is good enough so up close.

Don't let anyone tell you it's a horrible scheme, if they do, wear clothes that look like it!

Scatter with some Basing Sand, or Kitty Litter, and then Basecoat in Codex Grey. Do a Medium Drybrush, so it's not too heavy, in Fortress Grey. Give it a Wash if you want, at some point, and then repeat the Drybrushing Steps, only lighter the second time; this will allow more of the Wash to show through.

You really can't go wrong with Drybrushing in different Grey Tones, or Washing in Badab Black. Do some Test Runs.

Hope that helps!
