Get hold of some stuff called Micro Sol and Micro Set and your problems are solved.

Don't know where they sell them in the US though, I'm afraid.

What I do to keep them from coming off is mix up some water with some white elmers glue till its the consistancy of kinda thick milk. Cut your decal out and put it in the solution for abit (I just kinda eye ball it) then slap it on the model. you might need to hold it for a while but when it stays leave it to dry. After it drys I used future floor polish and seal the decal in.
hope that helps

Second filbert with the micro sol and set also on the stage before i use future klear which is a floor polish, dont know what its called in the states. This helps the surface that yours decals going to be put on be alot smoother. Then use micro sol and set i find it better to use future klear on top to hold it all in place.

It's called Johnson's Future in the USA and Klear in the UK

Ditto xKill

Microsol/set should be readily available in the US as that is where the stuff comes from.

ps Apparently White vinegar = microsol and will do the same job.
Don't use malt vinegar. Keep that for your chips (sorry, French Fries)

I use paint-on gloss varnish over the area to smooth it, soak the decal in water, then apply using Badger Model Flex decal softening solution. Another layer of gloss varnish once it's set and dried, then the whole model is ready for final varnishing (a few layers of gloss for protection, then a dusting of matte to kill the shine).

It sounds like you didn't put a gloss coat over the decals once they dried. This, along with the advice listed above, is absolutely vital!
