I saw a thread like this on another forum. He's got hundreds of songs, it's easy to find one you like No covers! Rage against the machine's "maggie's farm" isn't a bob dylan song!
It's alright ma (I'm only bleeding) is my favorite.

Great idea for a thread. Sadly, you might not get many takers, as many Dakkites seem to prefer the limitless supplies of 'ooh look at how scary I am!!' that only black metal can provide.
It's a tricky one - there are a few songs on Blood On The Tracks that are very strong contenders. 'If You See Her, Say Hello', 'Tangled Up In Blue' and 'You're A Big Girl Now' are all class, but I think my favourite has to be 'Simple Twist Of Fate'. Great song.
Tomorrow it might be something else, but today it's that.

Well, yes. Usually when someone asks "what's your favorite dylan song?", you're supposed to skip like a rolling stone and subterranean homesick blues Jimi hendrix was a freaking genius. He managed to turn any bob dylan song into a concert orchestra of guitar. No words can describe my love of hendrix.

I feel you, there truly are no words that can really describe Hendrix, "Great","Amazing"...they don't even come close.
However, since "Like a rolling stone" is a Dylan song,I felt it deserved a place on the list.
Incidentally,it's my understanding that this young lady was the "inspiration" behind the song.

I could imagine. That song's got some really deep lyrics, "He's not selling any, alibis. as you stare into the vacuum of his eyes. And say, would you like to, strike a deal? How does it feel?"
That line really speaks to me. Like, on a "this is the real world. Like, really" sort of way.

Exactly, as I recall,Ms. Sedgwick was something of a Social Debutant, hailing from the famous Sedgwick family, she apperently struck out on her own, spending a great deal of time with the "counter culture" of the 60's,staring in a few of Andy Warhols films, etc, and was (IIRC) disowned by her family due to her rebelious nature...
As I've heard it,Dylan wrote the song about her basicly saying " You used to be Queen...but now your sort of here in the gutter with the rest of us."

Yeah, I know you're not supposed to say Rolling Stone, but goddamn is that one great song.
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

I wipe my butt with Bob Dylan. He's not even freeking coherent. Coming from someone as incoherent as me, that means a lot.
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
-"Don't mind Frazzled. He's just Dakka's crazy old dude locked in the attic. He's harmless. Mostly."

David bowie is worse. I can never understand a word of him. His vocal style is ridiculous.
"And those children that you spit on....ARE immune! to your consulta~~tions. They're quite aware..."
From changes, by david bowie.
He just creeps me out.
Oh, and "everything is broken" is one of my favorite dylan songs now.

Yes..Bowie could be described as "strange",but that's part of what made/makes Bowie great.
Oh,and the lyrics from "Changes" that you quoted.
"... And these children that you spit on ,as they try to change their world, are immune to your consultation, their quite aware what their going through."
These are perhaps some of the finest "rebellious" lyrics ever penned.
