Yesterday I visited the Los Angeles battle bunker with buddy of mine for his birthday. Within a few minutes of being in the store I noticed a dry erase board mentioning a "bits bazaar" going on in the store for the afternoon. Around 10 to 12 tables were partitioned for the local hobbyists to sell their extra bits to their fellow gamers. Essentially, you would find bits you needed, told the employee at the register how much you were being charged for said bits and the seller's name, and then they would be credited in store gift cards in that value.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised how successfully the event went. Tons of people got rid of their unused bits, and others snagged some needed pieces for dirt cheap. The store itself set out boxes of bits and let you fill a decent sized bag for five bucks.

Has anyone else attended something like this at their local battle bunker or gw?

My local GW did this a while ago. I thought it was a great idea too, got rid of some dusty stuff, and picked up some sweet bits that I probably wouldn't have bothered with otherwise.

Hmm at one FLGS that used to be open that I would visit. They had a very large tub. You could throw in what you wanted to get ride off and they would give you a small amount of store credit depending on what you put in and how much. Then otherpeople could come dig threw it and take out what they needed and buy them from the store for pretty cheap.

It worked out very well as there were alot of older guys that played that always had a ton of stuff to get out of there house. Then me and the few younger guys that played there would spend hours digging threw it. Was petty fun.

Reminded me of digging threw the lago box for that one peice you knew you had but couldnt find haha. A buddy of mine built a 500pt necron army just from that box hahaha.

Can't you see we have been abandoned? Forget matters of duty and honor to the emperor this is now a matter of pride.

Haha yeah, digging in the bits box was like looking for that one Lego piece you need.

Let me tell you, I took full advantage of the gw box. I managed to get six tzeentch flamers and eight metal horrors for $5. Also got four sets of terminator claws for a few bucks from some kid. Guy I played a game with managed to snag an entire sister of battle squad in his gw bag.

Yeah, most people love digging for bargains. It sounds like going through the discount comic bins at comic stores. I would totally go through bits bins if my local stores had them.

Man, I wish I had access to something like this. Online bits-on-sprue are usually expensive enough that I won't go through with every project I might undertake, otherwise. Besides, bargain-hunting taps something in my brain (as it does in many others') - I could and would dig around in there for an hour and be perfectly happy if I came out with 3 little pieces of plastic.

Yeah, buying bits online can be quite expensive and annoying. Apparently this was the first time they have done it. I hope it was successful enough for them to do it more often or carry it over to the regular gw stores.

Would anyone know something like this in the Dallas area? I could always use some more bits . . .

So apparently, GW policy has shifted to only bitz trading / sales rather than actual model sales.

I miss the flea markets that GW used to do.

Bits Bizaars are one of my favorite parts of the hobby. Usually I never find anything good, but boy when I do its great. My school games club has a bits bin for free which is sweet too.

I have a buddy who got something like 50 or 100 pounds of bits during the old "bits disaster" from GW. Maybe there's some older players who know the full story of that one out there.

Ah the joy of "Troll Boss Bob's Bargain Basement", which with its random and frequently changing sales caused me to get into Inquisitor and Battlefleet Gothic. A few damaged items sold at 50% of normal price on the part of GW earned them 100 times over the value in sales...

Wait, maybe it is a better thing that they do not do that anymore.
