Ignorant of whether or not Scibor has an official Dakka spokesperson, I excitedly must post these. They're similar to the High Elf headed Space Marines that have been used as Adeptus Custodes models, but these have a more Sci-Fi look to them.

Out of curiosity, is that the actual size of the sprue these things come on, or is that just a display one?

That's a good question since there is more resin in the sprue than the bits...

Wow... I never thought of that before... If you think about it, for the amount of resin that is being wasted, they could probably triple the number of heads on the sprue...

Or, y'know, do a flip-side, so there are heads sticking out on both sides of the mighty resin shaft.

Scibor sprues are always that chunky.

Ah, it's resin. A fine sawblade will cut through it like snap.

Is the resin similar to what FW uses or is it harder or more rigid?

I've only god a few Scibor minis and they're all one piece. They don't appear to be any different.

Thought that was fairly typical for resin aftermarket items.

Dip it in a bowl of water when using the razor saw to stop dust flying around.
Wear a mask.
problem solved.

The blocks twixt the helms could be a tad fiddly

A big piece of resin sprue on a big miniature isn't bad but a big piece of resin on tiny bits makes no sense, it just cranks up the cost price and thus the retail price.

so, what bodies do you guys think work best with making the rest of the adeptus custodes? maybe it's just the gold color but the new sanguinary guard with the BA icons cut off and little leather skirts seem to fit the bill best. i've always wanted to do a small preheresy force...

by pennies.

Anyway, back OT:

Great work. Will this herald the future for a bitz pack for some weapons/shoulderpads?

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

The excess of resin "sprue" isn't much of a problem, really. Most of the cost that goes into resin molding is labor of casting, moldmaking, and sculpting. Other Dakka users such as Chapterhouse may correct me, but this is what I have heard.

According to CMON, the heads will sell for around $5.99, and that's not too unreasonable for 8 heads. If the resin price were really to be that much of a problem, I'm sure Scibor could just remake future molds to use less 'sprue' and the customers wouldn't care.

@Orinoco: Scibor already makes several shoulderpads, shields, and heads in the variety of themes such as Templar and Celtic. They seem rather well-done, but I have never bought from them.

Fairly sure that although not healthy for you, craft resin is non carcinogenic. If it was causing cancer you can be sure many "nanny groups" would be making noise about it and moving to get it labeled and/or banned.

Man, Scibor is just getting better and better. If only Aly Morrison had a learning curve like that.

Looking forward to seeing those Spartan helms used in some Custodes armies here sometime...

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Anyone know an email for them?
Tried the "contact us" link and it just comes up error -_-

All in all, wanted to know if they took visa debit.

And +1 to Savnock's post.

I've been eyeing that Celtic SF warrior for awhile. Now, all this new stuff looks great too. Those helms are definitely Adeptus Custodes.

At $15 for a single mini, its not cheap, but its definitely near the mean for the industry.

Fiend, i think the quality alone is worth that.
Compare it to FW's prices and quality, it beats both easily.

Out of curiosity, how does Scibor sculpt this stuff? It looks very smooth and crisp. I want to say they are the result of 3d/machine processes, but they look too smooth for even that...

I agree jack. There quality looks amazing and actually makes them worth the price, imo.

Anyone who has Scibor minis, are they as detailed as they appear? How do they compare to GW?

$15 translates to around £8-9? not sure of the current exchange rates.
IMHO that sounds pretty fair given the usual miniature prices for quality sculpts.

I recently just got a big order from him and the stuff is top notch. Great for Black Templars BTW. Speaking of which, I think I just found a neat Emperor's Champion model in the Spartan, i'll just need to shave off those Lambda symbols and the Templar model while good for dark angels makes for a good black tamplar Castellan or Chaplain/Reclusiarch.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

I've got a few.

This one, who actually has a large mechanical arm holding what turned out to be a huge artillery shell, this guy, with his really cool scribe Servo-Skull, and finally this set, and the detail there is nice and crisp. All these models are one-piece as well, and very nice.

I've been mightily impressed with Scibor stuff.
