Yaayyyyyyy. Do we know when and how it will be released?

Am I the only one who doesn't mind integrated bases? I glue em in, pop on some flock, can't even tell. I realize I am a minority here. I'm not saying I love them or even prefer them...I'm just indifferent and don't have any complaints about them.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

It was part of the rewards for like recon+ or something. By second survey time surely. Although I have a feeling the rules-having books will be PDFed early and the compilation was always meant as a PDF. So as soon as it's done hopefully?

It'll be in the compilation book or whatever it's called so they'll have to have them down in time for the survey, is what I was trying to say. Hopefully sooner.

This is really testing my memory...

However, I believe the backers are getting the short story compilation as an Ebook at some point (Second survey time?) - I seem to remember a bunch of the contributors had already finished their stories.

I also remember a mention in an update that they were going to actually print it as part of their Deadzone Compendium book.

I guess making an actual standalone booky book in print is a ways off.

You and I, we're not like them. We purposely bought more Men at Arms. Normal is not in our experience.

SS - any word on whether or not Mantic is sticking with integrated bases?

No idea, but I'm considering using the integral bases as the actual bases for deadzone, so far all the minis seem to stand up okay without the need for any extra basing.

I'll play my first DZ game tomorrow night (70 point rebs strike team - commander, 2x human, drone, both grogan variants and a teraton) and will see if it works out okay or not.

They're planning an online seminar sometime soon for deadzone backers so that might be a good question to ask.

@Timetowaste, I almost always replace my default bases with scenic bases or clear arcylics. It's a bit of an annoyance but meh.

Now, if I start putting together my mantic undead... I may leave them on their integrated bases and just cover them over with some putty/plaster and then paint and flock sure. I'll probably do those as display bases and can probably hide the integrated minibases pretty easily. So for that they're fine.

I think if they want people to be using 100 models+ with additional vehicles, the integrabases are likely to stay, they're kind of there to make getting stuff together quicker.

Man...ebooks.... sigh.

I still haven't read Bloodstone of Cerillion yet. It's on this computer, but somehow the internet always gets in the way. I've actually read 4 or 5 paper books since I've downloaded it, too. I guess I'll have one more pdf to open and never read...

Oh wow... You really don't get many enforcers for your points.

Especially since the enforcer sergeant / energy gauntlet isn't out yet.

For 70 points I get....

Peacekeeper Captain
1 guy with wristblade / Engineer
Missile Launcher
2, yes 2 Enforcer troopers

I take it you can't swap the sergeants equipment any place?

Conversely for the rebels, you get

Rebel Commander
Teraton
Missile team
3 human troopers
1 yindij trooper
1 Grogan with desolator
1 survey drone

More alt poses we messed around with and a small conversion with the head and entrails hanging out. Bases are Micro art.

More will be added to our Face Book album throughout the coming week, https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.650888208267045.1073741860.475726182449916&type=1

Wow, those tear sprue marks on the leg and head of the Gen 2 look rough. Mold Lines ruin a great model. I hope you are not done cleaning those as it looks like the Gen 2 guy has a bulletwound in the side of his head with that sprue damage.

I would like to see how mold line cleanup and tear marks impact a fine paintjob of a regular person painting production run vs professionals painting prototypes.

TBH, looks like all of my stuff has been clipped rather than torn/twisted off, a large chunk of vent is left for the person to clip/ clean off themselves, which suits me just fine.

Nothing but a bit if additional filing, green stuff and paint will sort it.

Thanks for the pics! Was nice to wake up to ; ) Terrain is looking great, as are the good quality close ups of minis.

Is restic bendable ie. with the hot water method?

Yeah you can do hot water and bend it to shape within reason. That usually fixes minor issues.

Compel, try:

(29) PKA Captain
(10) Enforcer w/ rifle // assault enforcer
(10) Enforcer w/ rifle // '
(10) Enforcer w/ rifle // '
(11) Enforcer w/ missile launcher

Captain and 4 enforcers. Or you can convert or counts as the sgt and get 6. I will freely admit that the captain forces you to take a fairly basic team or only 4 guys (the ones I brought are as cheap as the enforcers can muster), and this is especially true when you consider campaigns and experience increasing unit costs.

Taking an engineer with the captain is fairly tricky because you will lack a heavy weapon and can't take enough troops to get one. (2 troops and not enough points, or 1 troop but can't take 2 specs with 1 troop).
You *can* do it, captain engineer, rifle/assault, rifle/assault.. but no heavy weapons to shoot down big bads or what not.

Enforcers definitely give you some interesting listbuilding challenges.

Have you looked into using the sniper as a leader? 2-1 and in a campaign his likelyhood to get kills will help you advance him (hopefully in the command stat to be on par with the sgt eventually). I haven't tried a list just yet but I think it offers intereseting possibilities. He'd free up a couple of points but lose out on overall command (and requires a trooper to balance him out). Another option for the 6 enforcer 70pt structure. Interesting that his 3 command total lets you move in two groups, not much different than moving optionally 4 followed by 2

A kit-bashed sergeant is fairly easy: chop the energy gauntlet off a corporation sergeant and switch it for where the energy sword hand is. I'll post pictures of mine tomorrow or Tuesday. I have two done this way, and if cut in the right place, it looks totally natural.

Heads for those models are factory pre cut, not on sprue. Just checked it again. It not really that bad, should be sorted once primed. Have had worse with forge world and we love FW and other high end resin except DZC minis. Also does not seem to be a running theme for all the kits. So pretty happy here.

Ok folks. This is my last post of a very Deadzone heavy day. - And it's now 2:30am.

First up, we have a gamut of Enforcers I've assembled - Not all today, thankfully.

A closer view of the new kits...

And, finally, a comparison of the 3 Enforcers we've seen so far.

Dreadball, Deadzone and Warpath.

And to round off the night, some personal-model pics I don't think there really has been seen on the thread yet.

My Deadzone rebels so far....

Commander *Redacted* and her pet Survey Drone, Martha. - The moldlines were pretty easy on most of the models, however it appears that I did manage to screw them up here...

Donna The Teraton brawler and her partly painted, adopted Dad. Her sisters, Mika, Leyla and Rafaela will be joining her in the not too distant future.

Finally, a bit of a comparison pic of some Deadzone rebels and an Infinity... something. I can't be the only person that decided to fill out their Rebel trooper numbers with infinity figures. Considering their poses, they match up pretty darn well in my mind! Even the gun fits in!

Yeah, I was figuring it should be an easy conversion to get an EF sgt, now I just gotta dig up one of my spare EFs..

I just sorta browsed through the site and went 'ooh that looks cool' and bought it, without really looking at, or remembering her name.

Wow, those mold lines and integrated base moon boots are awful.

I am seriously interested to see a single person who actually cleans those models and paints them and the mold lines don't destroy the final model.

Already seen some that looked great, linked pages ago from the demo models shipped out once the production stuff arrived.

I dont mind the integrated bases in KOW. But they seem pretty awful in Deadzone, especially the disco platform boots.

At least you guys got your notification.

Im definitely getting more terrain on the second survey. I went model heavy the first time and only got an extra 4 battlezones.

Here are some. No mould lines evident, nor is any damage from removing them. Large mould lines look bad, but they don't really add any difficulty to the cleaning process - if anything, they make it easier imo. They're easier to see so you're less likely to miss obstructed ones and the opposite problem, where you have an indent in the model, is much harder to fix. So yeah, so long as the mould lines are in good locations I'm fine with them - when they're going over a face, I shake my fist at Mantic and curse them ; p
